Looking at all these security threads and wondered if anyone knows the answer to this.
In a master van you can't stay inside or the alarm goes off, so what we usually do is not lock it at night when we are in, but looking at these threads of getting robbed while in at night I am thinking of finding some way of stopping the internal sensors going off so that we can lock the door . Can anyone help, just finding the sensors would be a big help.

Depends on the type of alarm but usually your told to press the arming button again within 3-5 seconds and it should beep again and turn the internal sensors off, well ours does, you just have to remember to turn the alarm off before you open the door in the morning 😀

Trouble is, I am happy with the door locking that's working fine, it's just that we can't be inside and lock the doors else the alarm goes off, some advisers on Google say lock it from outside with the key, which probably works but I can't do that as I want to be inside.
There are other Renault motorhomes, they can't all have the same problem.

can you not lock it through the window when sitting inside?

Have you tried pressing the arming/locking button again within 3-5 seconds?

Can you not lock the doors manually inside, that’s what we do, it doesn’t set the alarm though

We have a problem of having a bulkhead so can't do the cab things as I have to get out to get in the side door, so if I lock it in the cab I have to unlock it again to get out

It's just these internal sensors that are the problem, if I could stop them, everything would be fine.

I am thinking if I lock it by poking a stick through the bulkhead and pressing the button in the ceiling if that will work, Julie has gone off in it today but when she comes back I will try that.

A quick Google found this, it may help

Either pull the connector out of the internal sensor, or put a bit of tape over the hole of the internal sensor. That way all the system will work apart from internal sensor.

Is it a Cobra alarm? Do you have a small led push button like this one below?
If so, you turn the ignition ON, then OFF, and push continuously the small button until it flashes 1, 1-2, 1-2-3. Release the button and lock with the remote key. This way you've just disabled the interior sensors.

Easy, go in cab and close doors, open driver's window and lock from outside, close window...

Don't forget to take your sleeping bag with you! 😄

I might in fact have solved it with a bit of help from folks on here and other sites on Google.
I don't know which has done it but I have filled the sensor in the cab with blutac and locked the van with a stick on the internal manual lock through the bulkhead.
I haven't got enough time to mess about with it but I have walked about in the back for about half an hour with the doors locked and it hasn't gone off.🤞👍

I can just see the neighbours now saying “that Charlie next door has finally lost it and is pacing up and down in his van for the last hour”…😆🤣😂

What is the purpose of interior sensors, surely if someone has broken in through the door, the alarm is already going of

I think alarms are more of a sales feature than real security. When you here an alarm going off, you don't think someone is breaking into a vehicle, you think some idiot has set his alarm off again. The only difference is if it's parked outside your house
. My daughter's alarmed car was stolen from outside her bedroom window. The alarm didn't go off. Visible security and an immobilizer is the best we can do.
