We're hitting the road for an extended period later this year, and months on the road is going to make for one very dirty van.

My plan was to get a telescopic brush, a bucket and sponge, and periodically give her wash. Is that what most others do?

What's are your implements of choice?

I've got a telescopic brush padlocked onto the scooter rack (after some magpie walked off with my last one)
Just make a little stainless bracket for it 👌

I put a tread out yesterday about the waterless wash, really worth considering 👍🏻

Wipe down with a microfibre cloth when its raining.
Got the van completely caked in salt a couple of years ago after a night on the cliffs in Portugal, went to an Aire that had a motorhome washing bay, also a lot of campsites in Spain & Portugal have washing bays.

How about a 12v shower on the end of a broom handle? Might need an 12v extension lead to back of van?

Life is too short. When we go on our trips I am usually too busy enjoying myself to be bothered to wash the motorhome. Ours gets done by a vehicle valeter once a year before its first outing, whether it needs it or not :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

The reason we bought a grey motorhome was because the grey streaks don't show up so much (y) ;)

43 years I've been on this earth and I've never heard of waterless car wash. Looks like a good idea!

That's a fair one. We're away Jun-Dec this year with no returning home. After just a few weeks on the road and the state of the van, I dread to think what it'd be like after many months!
I'm definitely more for a quick clean periodically.

I have just spent the best part of all day cleaning ours and we had only been away 6 nights, just got a "snowfoam" gun for my pressure washer(y) took all the wheel trims off and cleaned the wheels, polished the trims and refitted.

When we are away I can't resist cleaning a bit so I use Autoglym No54 Fast shine and Lube to gently lift the dirt and wipe it away with a microfibre cloth, I also have a carnauba wax detailing spray that I quite like.

Have the extendable noodle head I keep in my garage then just fill up my collapsible bowl with soapy water give it a wash and dry with drying towel.
Then give it a go over with waterless wax.
Cleaned it twice on our last 3 week trip away as it annoys me if it’s dirty, saying that surprised at when you go through different countries how the roads vary, Belgium was the dirtiest and the van got filthy we went through rain in Switzerland and it stayed fairly clean.

See your windscreen wiper caps have gone the same as mine?
Need to address mine as it’s starting to annoy me, may try some black plasti-kote spray

Personally I love the idea of an afternoon break with a hose and some rags and the Autoglym polish. A thorough wash down and let me get on with it! As long as it shines afterwards .....Im a happy man! Im not after a showroom finish........Just want it to look as good as the rest on site . We all love our trucks ......Don't we!

Plenty of roadside car / van washes in France…….We found a couple that were designed for larger vehicles and had a gantry to do the roof.

Plenty in Germany as well. (y)

Now you have done it;) one just accidentally fell off in my hand and ended up with black paint on it, if it all falls straight back off again I will try the plasti-kote stuff, think it needs to be satin though.

I have the worx version.
Does a good job...usually uses 2 buckets of water.

A few years we were parked up on an aire and I watched my French neighbour using a mop and bucket, the mop could be spun in the bucket by pushing down on the handle removing most of the water. The mop after being immersed in soapy water could be used to wash the van, then spun dry and used to dry the van.
I was so impressed I bought one for about 20€ at the local French Chinese shop and always take it away on extended trips, cleans our 7.5mtr aclass in about 60 minutes, one bucket soapy water and two buckets of clean water so very economical.
A good 20€ investment!

Good idea, if it doesn’t work I’m happy to leave mine as they are😂😂
