I'v been asked to replicate 2 classic ADM / BRM / Krauser / Swissauto / Stredor era sidecar radiators, no big shakes I hear you say, but I have raced against these LCR & Windle powered outfits, So its official I'm OLD How did it happen/when:cry: :D
Never had one myself, couldn't afford an engine like that(n)

Er......................................To much information.

Bloody nightmare we're all getting old when did it happen eh!!
Won't admit it though wife and I started planning our next bike adventure last night.
Ride down through Columbia and Ecuador then get a boat over to Galapagos.:)

I think of a classic as something before my era, I don't know the age at which something becomes classic now a days?

ADM / BRM / Krauser / Swissauto / Stredor are all 500cc 2T engine's from a golden age of innovation & engineering in the world sidecar class

Lots of stuff from the 50s and 60s is now considered classic too me its much much earlier than that
But thinking about it that makes me Classic :)

It's funny what people class as classic as well to me it's something that had longevity, preformed well, made you stop & look etc, sorry this might upset a few, but a chap told me he had a classic Honda, so I enquired what "250 superdream" What they didn't go, flat as as a witch's tit, handled like a greased pig, its now a classic

That looks a beautiful piece of engineering.I am sure it will be a pleasure for you to start stripping them down piece by piece and savouring the quality.
What carbs are they?
Enjoy the challenge!!

Superdream Classic that's hilarious.
Had one it was a pretty bike at the time but totally useless you couldn't even get it into 6th every time you tried it slowed down, eventually hit a sheep with it and wrote it off. Seem to remember that was my last Honda until I bought the SH3ooi recently, ridden loads but never wanted to own another.

Edit; did own CBR1000 for very short time and used to carry a Dominator in the motorhome Oh and raced a Seeley Honda blimey had more Hondas than I thought.

Sold plenty though;

CB250N[edit]
The CB250N Super Dream was a 249cc motorbike. It was a popular model in the United Kingdom due to the licensing laws at the time allowing learners to ride any motorbike with a capacity under 250cc.[9][10] The CB250N was the most popular selling bike in the UK with over 17000 bikes sold in 1980 alone.[9] Its popularity in the United Kingdom waned along with many in the 250cc class when in 1983 the maximum size of learner machines was reduced to 125cc.

During its production run it had several variations from 1978 to 1986. The various designations were, CB250N (1978-1979), CB250NA (1980), CB250NB/NDB Deluxe (1981) and CB250NDC (1982-1985)[11] and CB250NDD (1983-1986).

I'v only got to make a couple of period Radiators for them, Flat slide keihin lovely carb except in damp conditions, They tend to stick (about 3000-4000 RPM!!) its the nature of flat slides in the damp

No nor me in fact my old mate @edgy has got the new Honda Africa Twin which I think is an awesome bike and if I hadn't bought a new bike just before it's release that what I'd have now and still may end up with one in a couple of years time.(y)(y)

Make video of you making the second one, love to see a craftsman at work. :)
Haha I'm just a farmer's who does a bit of welding & machining (y)

That looks like more than "a bit" :)

I am one of those saddoes who watch CNC machines on youtube, or guys making swords etc.
It's not just me then

When I did my time back in 66 the height of progress was the capstan lathe, H4's and C7's, welding was stick only or gas. Rad's were soldered copper, that looks like ali? Tig welded?

I dont get to do much stick these day's but still love it, far superior weld to Mig, I work with alloy all the time, fuel tanks, Rads, air box's, dry sump tanks, header tanks etc, all Tig.

Nice, thanks.(y) I take it you just buy the matrix in? The only ali welding I ever did was with gas, and that was 30 odd years ago. You had to catch it just right, a little to much heat and you had a hole, guess it must be the same with Tig.:)

What an interesting thread!!
Great work and a pleasure to see.I have been following racing for ever and the way sidecars have been pushed aside in recent years saddens me.
Not wishing to hijack the thread but my godson used to be the IT boss at Goodridge, travelled the world sorting their stuff.I always used to go to Silverstone for GP with him but one year he was giving VIP entry for two and we spent the day with Steve Webster, multi champion.
Unforgettable day, nice guy, spent probably more time with us than he could really afford and an amazing insight to the engineering side.
Total respect to you guys.

Couple of pictures of machines I used as an apprentice. The scruffy state of it, it could even be the one.
H4 lathe.jpg

And the lovely little Myford grinder I used in the tool room, with this I was expected to get to 10ths of a thou, and at weekends I got half a crown (two shillings and 6 pence) for sharpening up cylinder lawn mower blades for the guys.
Myford grinder.jpg

Steve Webster really nice chap, his brother Kevin raced for a wile.

So.... you make radiators then......runs to garage to find pair he need making..

@olley , in our apprentice school, we had a Herbert and a Ward capstans, the Ward was great as it had an induction brake and would stop in an instant. I used to friction weld allen keys together on it to make long series ones, happy days :)
