As of today, 23/8/22 minus a few weeks! ( deposit paid, awaiting collection)
Good Morning!

Last week we went to Stratford on Avon for the horse racing. Stayed two nights, on the course site. We like horse racing and having a little flutter and staying on the course really enhanced the enjoyment.
Seeing the horse boxes arrive and unload, the gradual build up of activity as staff and public arrived. Course entry included in site fee, all in all a very good stay.
My question is this…. Have you experienced racecourse visits, either on course or walking distance to the course?
Where have you been and what recommendations have you to offer?
It would be nice to cover a few different racecourses in the future.

Worcester, there's a long stay car park next to the racecourse which a lot of motorhomeers use and the overnight charge is quite reasonable. Never been to the horse racing, I live a five minute walk away.

Also done Warwick but not when racing is on…short stroll into the town so ideal location

As mentioned above, Hexham....
Excellent views over the course, all the facilities, nice showers, bit of a steep hill to walk back from Hexham itself.
We stayed last year in June and they were just getting the course ready for the 3 day meet later in the week..

The pitches are a bit uneven but manageable.

Also stayed at Perth where the C&CC is next to the racecourse and there is a gate to access the course for a walk round it.

Warwick Club Site is within the racecourse if I remember correctly.

Thanks all so far… specifically looking to stay while racing is on so will have to check the racing calendar.

Secondly is anyone “ in the know” for any winners?

Thirsk Racecourse is C&MC. Site becomes the carpark on race days so you move onto the rally field which is next to the track, so free to view. (Otherwise pay to go into the racecourse itself).
Lidl and Tesco next door and a few minutes walk into the town.

We stayed over at Warwick on race day and went into the race track for the atmosphere. A great day out especially because we won lol

Uttoxeter was my favourite, pitch on the rails and just walk through the gate and you have access to bookies bar and food vans and the finish line for a small charge. Unfortunately gypsies drove on earlier this year and threatened the wardens before taking over the site. Hopefully it will be open again but I have my doubts.

The cmc cancelled our booking for 2021 when it closed for staffing issues, we made it there for the november races in 2022 but had it cancelled again for june this year....we love it there

We had a great weekend at Carmel (South Lakes) over the late May bank holiday weekend.

Great spec but you have to book very early!

We have stayed at Thirsk and Great Yarmouth racecourse sites.Thirsk site is used by the racecourse on race days.
But they move you to the rally field right along the race track but no hook up on race days

Hubby used to look after jockeys , he met some nice ones, they liked him cos he never asked for tips, jockeys never gave tips (more than lifes worth) but" lads "did
But we not gamblers so not interested, son was a farrier he got tips but never bothered either

How do costs compare? No one has mentioned prices.
What does it cost typically for camping including entry and how much to attend a race meet without camping.
Happy Jack
