Hi all. I recently fitted two Fiamma Safe Door security locks on the Hab door and N/S garage doors. They look good but did create a bit of a divide with regard to whether they are a security asset and deterrent, or whether they are an open advert for an empty and therefore vulnerable vehicle. Some good points were raised both pro and against having them. Personally I feel they are a good visual deterrent, and if a Scrote is going to break in, then they are are going to do it anyway.

Anyway, moving on from the Fiamma locks, I am also looking at getting two Hook Locks fitted as seen in the pic below. One on the drivers door and one on the cab passenger door. I`ve had a few quotes that range between £300 - £400, that is supplied, fitted and including VAT. A lot of companies will come to you to fit them.

One question I did ask all of those I approached for a quote was as to how they treat the metal body work after cutting in to it. Cutting into the door and the cab frame would expose bare metal. Most said that they put a metal protecting "primer" type stuff on the bare metal, some sort of rust prevention liquid I suppose.

Has anyone had these fitted? Would you recommend them? Any issues?

Thanks for any feedback and info you can give.

Rick.

I fitted these external deadlocks and Heosafe internal deadlock for nighttime to the cab doors and a Heosafe deadlock that can be locked from both the inside and outside to our hab door.
They are fairly easy to fit yourself if you consider yourself to be a competent DIY'er, and yes, I apply rust prevention to any cuts or hole I make to the externals of our van.

I'm thinking along the same lines, and have been quoted around £150 per door, thou I'm waiting for that in writing. It would be helpful for any quotes/companies to be listed here, I'll add mine when it actually comes.
