Just read about Mexican Pilot who jumped out of his Hot Air balloon when it caught fire, leaving 2 to die , luckily the parents daughter jumped out , but ,has injuries, we flew over the Valley of the Kings in Egypt very interesting ( but, never again) you have 15 seconds they reckon to get out , before it goes shooting up in the sky due to extreme heat, remember before you book a flight the basket once in comes up to your chest not easy to get in or out.

My mate hot air balloons and I sometimes do the chasing on the ground...if he pulls the deflation vent in the top then nothing will keep it in the air, with burners full on or on fire

I'm told when it catches fire it turns into a fireball so quick that the Pilots know what's going to happen so they abandon and don't worry about passengers, but it maybe this last one was in Mexico and the one before Egypt !!
