So, I've got the 14th 22nd December off and looking at planning a week about the UK and we always like Keswick when we have this sort of time, just a night, 2 at a push, BUT looking at the 15th for one night, computer says no, 15th and 16th, same, 15th, 16th and 17th? Of course, welcome, come on in that'll be £100+ quid.

Now, IF i wanted 3 nights I'd be happy enough with that, but 3 days / nights in the week of the shortest day of the year in Keswick, nah, you're taking the mick surely?

I feel like its a bit of a greedy policy surely to force this at any time but I can understand the business practice in the summer hols etc but come on, a week before Christmas?

Agree.. tried Keswick many times, and yes they have a 3 night limit policy. All year, as far as i know...Are there any other CCC sites with this rule?.. dont know why...
However that is not a CCC site wide policy.. plenty of other CCC sites do not have this rule..
Booked in Delamere site next week for one night..

We have often phoned the site direct and been able to book for 1 or 2 nights, all depends on how busy they are, obviously the nearer the date of travel the better.

Yes, there are other CCC sites with minimum stays. None are explained on the site info page but there is a document on the CCC site if you can find it which lists them all.

Braithwaite village has the same minimum stay as Keswick.

Their call centre once told me that if I phoned 24 hours before they would waive the minimum if they had plenty available. Naturally their website won’t allow this.

If you search “camping and caravan club minimum stay” you should find the document with all of the restrictions.

Keswick is my home town, (although 45 years ago we moved 15 miles north to the peace of the Northern Fells). Keswick was always busy with Fell Walkers, but now it is rammed 365 days of the year with tourists and all of the hospitality providers know they can charge top dollar and get it. C&CC have three sites in the Keswick area, all rammed every day with campers happy to pay over the odds to be staying in such a beautiful and sought after location. If you are a C&CC member there are many Certified Sites close to Keswick, but out of the busy zone, where you will find a much cheaper option, but still be in the beautiful area.
