I have Autosleeper Clubman GL.
On a VW T4.
1995. I've been told that as it's over 25 years old I can register as a historical vehicle and not pay road tax. Does anyone know if this is correct and if so are there any drawbacks .

It used to be rolling 25 years ,until labour abolished it.

The UK had a 25-year rolling tax exemption in place for classic vehicles in the past but this was abolished in 1997 by the incoming Labour government. In the intervening years the 1972 cut-off for the classic car tax exemption remained in place, until 2014 when plans were announced to reintroduce the rolling 40-year exemption. During the 2015 budget, these plans were confirmed, to the joy of many enthusiasts.

Then reappeared years later as 40 years. Amazing when hmrc consider anything over 15 years "historic" as long as value is over original list price & also 15k,

I think the word your looking for is 'Classic'.
My 1989 Westy California will not be exempt until it's 40yrs old.
