Asking for a friend.
My mate is planning on a road trip in France this summer and has asked me if I know if there is anywhere near ferry or Chunnel ports where a lhd MH can be hired so they are in a lhd on the continent rather than hiring in UK and taking one over?
I have no idea but thought there might be someone who knows or could advise?

This may be of use too?

You could try this site https://www.ets-jacqueline.com/rentevasion-location

I’ve not used this rental service myself, but when we lived in France we bought and sold through their Caen branch.

Otherwise person-to-person rentals - but maybe trucky if one doesn’t live in France https://www.yescapa.fr/campervan-hire/caen
https://www.wikicampers.fr/location/camping-car/
I think I remember there was a company in Holland that rented to UK travellers but I can’t find it now

Thanks for these I will pass them on 👍
I'm sure that what used to be called "Calais Caravans" does vehicle hire. They are on the road out towards Auchan and Leclerc.

I've just fount it on Google Earth - MLD , 1265 Avenue Roger Salengro. www.multiloisirs.fr

Depending where he wants to visit in France, might it be worthwhile looking at fly/drive with a search for motorhome rentals further south ? (Obviously only if they want to tour further South)

Do what the French do.
Drive to Germany and hire there.

The German motorhome hire market is far more sophisticated than anyone else's in Europe.

We found this out when looking ourselves.

What you do is fill your car with what you need, deckchairs, pots & pans, bedding etc.
Basically everything you would take for 2 weeks camping except the tent.

You then drive to Hull or Harwich and get the (Friday) night ferry to Holland.
Get a cabin on board and sleep over the sea.
This will put you in the Dusseldorf area by (Saturday) lunch time.

Load up your motorhome and head off.

We met a couple in the hire place from the Midlands who did this every year, they were off to Spain for 3 weeks.

The company we used were DRM but there are many others.

The other option is to fly in, DRM have bases near most of the major airports, and you then hire the cutlery, pots&pans, bedding deckchairs etc.

DRM and others mostly have bases around the borders, as people from all the neighbouring countries, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, France, Netherlands and the UK all go to Germany to pick up their rented motorhome to then head south.

When my parents did it Germany was better and cheaper than France. Think they hired through ADAC

Works out cheaper if your planning Europe anyway.
