Having been through a lot of threads researching buying a data sim when I go to Spain in January for two months when I will be working as well as holidaying and so need a lot of data I am coming to the conclusion that the Tiekom sim is the way to go. (I looked at Connectpls but there's something about their website which looks like it was knocked up in a morning by the owners pal so not too keen on them).
So for Tiekom using the sim as a hotspot and being Spanish does anyone know if I will be able to log into my UK company's intranet?
I can't make a mistake on this as will be in serious trouble if I can't get onto my company intranet.
cheers Martin

Why not use Tesco or id mobile, both currently have no roaming limits and as UK Sims are more likely to be able to access UK company intranet if they have security in place, also as you will be roaming on a UK SIM it will access multiple networks as required.

Tesco want you to take on a 24 month contract which I don't want to do and looking at latest posts on this topic is it not the case that ID (and other providers who until very recently offered unlimited roaming) have severely limited roaming gb's.

Id currently have a promotion waiving their fair use policy, only restriction is 63 days, you can take 30 day contracts and I think e Sims .

I would ask your firms IT person about it. Some companies ban non UK IP addresses. I know I wasn't able to log in from a foreign IP address. It will depend on the Company and their IT security.

Indeed, but some do it based on gps location and (system) location data, which your laptop can pick up from neighbouring (ie campsite) wifi sometimes.

So even a UK IP address via a UK sim won't save you from (some) work location detection software.

ie, working for a government entity or financial institution from abroad on a work laptop on a UK sim when against your work policy may get you fired. Safer to tell them and get it agreed in general (and therefore allowing a Spanish IP address).

Tesco only work as a hot spot in a phone or Huawei E5577.

Lebara works pretty well and great cheap deals but 2 months and limited to 30gb. I think you will find most uk sims have time limits.

We had popit in our router until just recently but we didnt find the performance that reliable and when the roaming data got limited we ended it.

When we wang s spanish sim we get a payg from Vodafone Es but if we were using higher volumes on a regular basis would probably get Tiekom.

We didn't have a good experience with Tesco but 3 years ago so may have changed again.

I used Tiekom for two months in Spain and Portugal in Autumn. All worked well. They will send you the SIM card now and activate it to check no problems with logging into work. So course that will only check the Sim is ok not that your location won’t breach other employment conditions. As other say ask your employer.

You also might be technically breaching travel regs - working without visa and have a tax liability. Some large companies are getting very concerned about potential breaches of Eu regs by their employees, either through ignorance or just ignoring the rules.

Good luck
