Thanks very much for excepting me in the forum I'm new in this exiting world of motorhomes. I am in the process of buying a used motorhome from a company in UK but it is based in Germany for Brexit reasons I'm asking about the company if it is legit. The company's name is Carcelona LTD . I'm a retired firefighter and if I get scammed I'm not financially strong to buy another motorhome so please I need your help. many thanks

So sorry I cannot help but welcome to the forum. Someone will be along to help I am sure(y)

Looking at their website the vehicles are way too cheap so I would say it’s a scam and their address is Essex Uk

Hi welcome,

Beware!

If it seems to cheap , it is too cheap! And st up to suck you in!

:welco:
UK they have fixed exemptions the last couple of years and only £2k in the bank and main director has relocated to Germany.

Looked at a couple of vans on their site price looks about right so I'm not sure. What to make of it.

Prices looked about right to me, scamers would be offering them at much lower prices but the filings at companies house looked a bit odd but could be due to moving to Germany.

OK, I looked at their website, the motorhomes are way too cheap.

DON'T DO IT YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Better thing is to say what your requirements are then many forum members will chime in with help.

The company is associated with an address in Kemp House in London.
This is a well known 'brass plate' address from which many companies are registered (including Parking Eye who are borderline crooks)

Personally I'd not part with a single penny, not even a deposit, until you see the van in person at a dealers.
And if that means you have to fly to Germany, then fly to Germany.

(By the way, there are a lot of good second hand motorhomes available in Germany )

Personally I think it smells of a scam.

Smells off to me. A quick whois shows their website is VERY new. 07/02/2024
Domain Name: carcelonaltd.com
Creation Date: 2024-02-07

BUT an exact copy of their site is registered to a Reykjavik privacy address is ALSO very, very new. 15/01/2024

Domain name: carcelonauk.com
Registry Domain ID: 2846582689_DOMAIN_COM-VRSN

Then the company at companies house has Broken Link Removed. Which if I read it right shows £2K in the bank and £11K owed to them. Giving £13K of cash/assets etc. But they owe £92K... There balance sheet is bad if I am reading this right.

It looks to me like a scammer may have camped on an existing company?

If you decide to go with them. I would not pay any deposit nor would I send them any cash UNTIL you have seen the van in the flesh and have access to the keys. Do not leave the premises without the vehicle after paying for any reason...

OHH!!!!!

I have a locked down secure browser I use for work. When I visit one of their listings they really, really, really don't like me and redirected me to google. I cannot view their listings in my secure browser.

I just did a few tests. For this test I used curl to fetch the headers for one of their listings to see if I could get any further info.
As you can see. Instead of serving me any data (the page) or telling me 404 page not found, or redirecting me to the main listings page. They tried to get rid of me by redirecting me to https://www.google.com

They have 120 vehicles listed on their home page. None of which appears to have had the photos taken at the same location.

The more I look the less I think this is a legitimate site. This is just my opinion, you can take my opinion or leave it.

Hmm, in fact every link on their site is broken and redirects to Google. Menus as well.

I would also focus on your requirements and layout first. Then buy a decent used one so you can verify whether the layout you think works actually does.

I'm under the impression that Malta drives on the left, does that mean that you cannot register a LHD there? ( you can't in some countries)

Where do you intend to keep it and use it?

Possibly have a good trawl through Broken Link Removed to have a good look see.

As a start you could tell the seller that since you are in Malta you would like to arrange a viewing next week by a friend in the U.K.
Where is the motorhome? Maybe one of us could have a look to see if it really exists.
Whatever you do, don't pay any sort of 'holding deposit'.

Take a look, I think with your extensive knowledge that you will agree that prices are very cheap.

I've just 'driven' along their address (Balkerne Hill CO3 3AD) using Google Street View. It's a busy dual carriageway, mostly walled-in and with few access points and no sign of the business.
I'm also always suspicious when every van has been photographed in a different location, as they are on their website.

Why couldn't you just fly up to Germany and visit a couple of dealers with a list of vehicles you may like.
That would be the easiest and quickest.

Best decision you have made this week.

Motorhoming can be a fantastic experience but it can also be a nightmare if you get drawn down a duff alley.

I am a lucky little perisher and my experiences of MH's are all good.

Like I said earlier, define your requirements and then find the best match to that in terms of a MH.

If you are not entirely sure of your requirements then just start a new message asking for help and you will get plenty of advise.
