We currently have a VW Transporter & looking at upgrading to a Kingham. Any advice on them is greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

:welcome3: to FUN!

I haven't had an Auto Sleeper Kingham but it looks to me like one of the few British panel van conversions that has decent and easily accessible storage. That is just a personal opinion - I don't want to upset any owners of other mainstream British PVCs. 😉 👍

We have just downsized to a Autosleeper Kemerton XL, so all I can say about our van is that it's very good quality build and very comfortable. Different layout admittedly but this is our third MH/Van and we are very happy. Good luck!

We have a Kingham and for us, the layout works very well. The bed is a little narrow, and the bathroom might be tight for some. As it’s a PVC the vehicle drives easily and fits anywhere a Transit type van can go.

Downsides - the heating isn’t great, it gets cold in the cab area although external Silver Screens help a lot here. The storage under the bed is OK but we miss having a full garage for throwing bits in. For example, if you want to take full sized bikes, you’d need an external rack. And final downside is relatively small fresh and waste water capacity.

However all MH are a compromise and overall we are very happy with ours! You might have seen the reviews on YouTube WolfiesWheels - where I go into more detail than I can in a forum post!

Thanks for the kind comment!

We bought from SMC at Newark, who sell quite a lot of Autosleepers. It might be worth contacting them to ask them to let you know if something suitable comes in?

There is a member here Simon Select who is a Motorhome dealer with a first class reputation. It might also be worth contacting him to see if he has anything coming in.

Sadly, other than that, it would be a case of trawling internet to see what might come up.

I see you need an automatic… as far as I know, the majority of Kinghams came as manuals and on the Peugeot version of the Seval van. The autos were on the Fiat version, and could be much harder to find. If you prefer an automatic then I can say the manual gearbox is fine to drive and would be easier to find; if you need an automatic, then obviously that’s not an option.

Ps - I also that you’re currently showing as a free member - which means you only get 5 posts…I can 100% recommend joining, the help and advice I’ve had from this site has more than repaid even my life membership fee 👍🏻

Good luck with your search!

Hi, we have had our Kingham since 2019 after looking at pvc's for a long time to make a decision that suited us. A transverse bed was a no, no as Mark would be squashed and we wanted a fixed bed. The sofa is great as we like to have the door open to look at the view, we spend a lot of time off grid and manage with the LPG and water tanks no problem. Plenty of storage for us and we go away for 2 weeks at all times of the year after with a dog joining us. E bikes go on the back but batteries inside the van.
Only thing I would change, get Reid of microwave as we are rearly on electric hook-up and it gets in the way of the view.
