Good site, we stopped there thus summer, footpath across the fields to Swanage. Looks a bit tacky when you arrive, the edges of the roads need attention, odd concrete blocks etc. They have been spending money lately opening up a new motorhome field that will look good once it matures. Staff helpfull and friendly.

If you know 'round there' it looks like it's halfway between Swanage and Langton Maltravers? Depends really on where you really want to be near.

Unfortunately I am not familiar with the area or the site, that’s why I have asked for advice. Is there an advantage on being near either Swanage or Langton Maltravers?

I use the area a lot and I prefer Ullwell Park campsite (expensive in summer) or Haycraft (CAMC)
I popped into Herston Yard a couple of years ago and thought it needed a bit of tidying up at the time, but there was investment ongoing. A lovely area, great for electric bikes!

As I mentioned you can walk to Swanage a nice seaside town, the usual tourist shops, good pubs and a sandy beach. Plenty of places to walk. The steam railway runs to Corfe Castle which is well worth a visit.

Ullwell and Haycraft better. Wasnt keen on Herstons. Plus the walk into town along the road is further than it looks. You can go across a field if I recall but in this weather will be water logged.

Why not go there and form your own opinion? Opinions are pretty subjective at best and things change anyway . . .

The benefit of MHF is to share our experiences and knowledge. It seems perfectly reasonable to ask.

There is also a very nice site within walking distance of Corfe Castle, where you could do the trip in reverse. Not sure the train is running at this time of year but there are probably buses. The village has cafes and pubs as well as a castle.

Absolutely, but I've been to highly rated (by other people's opinion) places and been disappointed and ended up in other places with low ratings and been pleasantly surprised. Just sharing that experience . . . .

I get both views, thanks for the responses
