Bailey Autograph
We’ve recently bought a 21 reg Bailey Autograph 79-4i. This is our second trip out and after draining the water tank down after the last trip (it forecast cold weather) I filled it at home. We’ve arrived on site but can’t get any water, the pump runs but nothing comes out. Can anyone suggest I do anything to solve this problem?

Have you checked the water tank is full.
If the frost valve was open and you haven't closed it ....
You won't be the first

Normally it is a problem with priming and getting air out of the system.
If you have a diaphragm pump, like our Autograph has, then priming is not usually a problem.
Have you checked the water level in case the tank has drained en-route?
Unlikely but worth being sure.
Try running for at least two minutes (you won’t damage the pump if it is a diaphragm one: i.e. it makes pulsing noises)

Thanks for your help folks. We were worried that we’d damage the pump. Ours makes a constant noise when pumping water and not the pulsating noise. I checked the water level to be sure and it was full, we kept fiddling and eventually it came through in gurgles and spurts. I think it was an airlock as suggested. Out of interest, where is the frost valve? We were out last weekend at Chatsworth and it definitely was frosty there. I haven’t seen anything in the handbook.

Some systems have an automatic valve that opens when the temperature drops below a certain point. If your Adle heating system is the same as on my 68-2 however,

it has a manual valve which will be next to the boiler.
My boiler is under the seats/bed area at the rear but not sure where yours is.
The valve will look like the yellow handled thing in the photo below.
Lifting the lever to the vertical position lets the boiler contents drain (draining the rest of the water system doesn’t drain the water in the boiler and if that freezes it gets expensive!)
Leave for a couple of minutes until any dripping noises have finished and then the valve can be closed again (handle back to horizontal)

It would only trip/release if the INSIDE of your van was cold. Not just because it was cold outside. 👍🏻👍🏻

Just for information when you fill water after draining
Check all drainage valves are closed - fill water -turn pump on - purge air out of system - open tap farthest from pump ( usually Shower ) then move onto next bathroom sink then sink tap.
