Hi
Can anybody help Trying to find a site to stop at near Galway, very frustrated that the 2 sites near will not respond to calls or messages 😡😡😡,, sites looked at are Hallorans and Salthill, the reviews are not good on communication
Any ideas I would be grateful for
Planned visit in September,
Many Thanks
Jeff

Any reason you need to be so close to galway? Asking as sites around Clifden, views and relaxation value are so much better.. No experience with mh there but spent many summers camping around the coast in my youth... Also look at An Spidéal...

We parked in the harbour in Galway, that was 8 years ago and they have parking meters :Eeek: ............... but while we there the chap was walking round checking tickets, so I acted stupid this was 2 o'clock Friday and it was so much and hour and so much overnight 🤔 I said how much do I need to put in the machine to stop until 10 o'clock tomorrow. 😲

He said just buy a ticket ....... if you have a ticket you have a ticket. 😁
Janie wasn't convinced, so I walked down the road and spoke to paddy sat in his motorhome and asked the same question and got the same answer. 😁
He paid for an hour the previous day, and was staying until Sunday. 😁
😎 Bob.

I know both sites well as an ex Galway resident.
The big issue was Travellers. The solution was you can't book in advance then the site owner can judge on your arrival.
My colleague had resorted to "rules", no tag axels, no over 7mtrs, no Knuas, no transit tow vehicles.....

It all got very silly, so the Government changed the law and the travellers went to England. Problem solved.

Unfortunately Galway city council removed the parking on the harbour 3-4 yrs ago and I’m also informed the buskers from the city centre. Go figure…

Hi we used Salthil a few weeks ago the site is clean and well looked after, but you can’t pre book ,we got through on the phone and we’re told to rock up in the afternoon and they would sort a pitch out which they did great view of Galway bay.
Also he doesn’t accept card payments so have to pay cash it was the most expensive site we used in Ireland I think it was 45 euros most were 30 euros per night.
we were unsure because of the reviews but we’re pleasantly surprised at the site once we got there.
hope that helps 🙂

Most of Ireland is pretty wild camping friendly. I even stayed in the centre of Killarney a few months ago and that is a seriously touristy town. Galway however has a reputarion of being very camper unfriendly. Pity really as it's a fun town.

Thanks, Brilliant, we are hoping to be able to walk into Galway, and was just concerned about sites not responding, but ok around cork, Kilkenny and Mannix, we don’t go until September 👍
