Hello, Can anyone help please? I will be 70 in November and have been sent a form D46P in the post to complete and return to DVLA to acquire a new driving license. I thought I would go on line and apply instead of using this form but I got myself into a bit of a muddle when I got to the part where it asked either car & motorbike or light goods and something else (cant remember). Anyway I did a chat with a customer service advisor telling her that the license I hold now was from 1976, its a pink paper one, probably a collectors item . It says I am licensed to drive vehicles in groups A and E. I told the advisor I drive a motorhome which is 3.5 tonne and was told I could not use the D46P form and would need to complete a D2 application form and a D4 medical report. Just wondering if anyone else has applied for a new licence in these circumstances and how did you get on?

If your motorhome is 3500kg you can drive it in a B licence and don't need the D2 & D4. Between 3500 kg and 7500kg you need a C1 licence and would need to do the D2 & D4. Over 7500kg I think it would be a full C licence.

I think the DVLA agent hasn't understood correctly.

Thank you for the reply, yes I think that may be the case with the advisor.
