Hi all on the Forum ..

As a " newby " on this forum , Hello , my name is Dave and having just bought a 2009 Fiat Ducato 3ltr diesel 6 speed auto box , all was good for a week or so
then an engine management light appeared .. code was PO 6308 throttle actuator control range performance bank 1 ..
seems to be a common fault , especially on this model .. due in some way because my Motorhome has spent most of its life parked up
going nowhere then the occasional run to the coast .. sooting up ..??..
The camper has only travelled K48000 miles .
I took it to a local garage who plugged it in to a big boy code reader and he now tells me the following ..
U1602 .. Can Bus Off
U1700 .. NBC Node Absent
U171A .. refer to OEM repair information for code description
OBD11 .. Codes ( $03 )
OBD11 Permanent Codes ( $0A ) Codes
he has told me to contact an Auto Electrical Engineer

I must add that it starts fine and drives like a train , no apparent loss of power .
Apparently in laymans terms its an Electrical Fault .. Engine Control ( NCM ) .. Auto Trans ( NCA-NCR ) .. Fault with engine control module .
So do I take it to a FIAT Dealership or hunt around for a top notch Auto Electrician .
I really do need some sound advice please , any and all appreciated ..regards Dave .

I would add your approx location to your post or your member details.
Then people near your area may be able to point you towards companies they know. (y)

A possible cause that would not cost much to try is , fitting replacement / extra earth cables , engine / gearbox to body and battery to body , as these have been know to cause electrical problems in the past on Fiat Ducato vans. The terminals corrode inside at their cable joints .

The first thing to look for on any electrical gremlins on the auto vans of that era is whether the main bulkhead grommet behind the offside headlight has been dislodged. This can cause either the engine or Comfortmatic auto box wiring loom to chafe on the bodywork and short out and give many random error codes and worse problems from either ecu

Hey guys, is it possible to contact a member here privately? I'm writing, because I have the exact same problems with my Fiat Ducato as Dave Murphy.
Enginge Check always ON
P0638 throttle actuator
U1602 Can Bus Off
U1700 NBC Node Absent
The car drives ans starts also well. Just there is no cooling water temperature displayed, maybe because auf the CAN Bus fault.
So maybe DAve knows the solution by now. My car is exactly the same as his, only one year older.
So I'm hoping he'll receive a message about my writing here.
By the way, if anyone else knows the solution, please let me know.

Greetings from Germany and sorry for my bad English ;-)

You can't contact as you are both non subscribers plus Dave has not been back on here since 27th July 2023...

Hey guys, I just wanted to share part of the solution with you.
The engine check problem was because of the throttle valve actuator. I'll try to load a photo from it's inside.
It's rusty inside after a longer unused time during the winter. Too much water in the engine compartment.
After cleaning and oiling it works well again without engine check lamp....maybe for now.

First part solved. Now I still have to search the Can Bus mistakes.
It still says some error reports with dashboard CanBus node problem.
So this must be the cause for the problem of the cooling water temperature display.

Greetings
Steve
