Since 2021...
We are travelling to Ireland for the Fleadh (an Irish festival) in Mullingar in August. Two questions please!

I know we will be travelling via toll roads from Dublin port to Mullingar. How do we pay those, can we register electronically to pay before we go? I think our route takes us on toll roads M50, N4 and M4.

Also I think we may need to pay the ulez charge. Can that also be paid in advance?

Thank you! I'm looking forward to trying the Guinness! Even though my dad was half t Irish, I've never been before.

Not sure about this, I know you pay M50 online, certainly on my last visit all other toll roads needed cash or a tag

Yes I saw the eflow link which Lenny HB kindly sent is M50 only unless we can get a tag which seems the most trouble free option so I'll look into that.

Just buy eflow for m50 rest are pay at toll there's always a wee man wee woman someone at booths. Very few motorways with a toll.

Tunnel from port to M50 has a toll payable at booth. M50 has online toll. (Keep receipt as their admin is awful and at least up to recently not unknown to issue pcn despite correct payment.happened to me twice). That leaves one shortish toll charge at booth on N4. As other post said very few toll roads, probably easier to pay at booth for the few required. Hope you have good trip

The online one is a total pita, though. It doesn't recognise UK number plates, and it won't tell you how much you owe ("GDPR"). They tell you that you can pay without an account if you give your country of registration and vehicle type, but there's no option for motorhomes/etc, and your choice is then car or commercial. Once you've got beyond this, they ask you to log in. So you can't pay without an account, and I'm not creating an account for one journey, which I wouldn't even have taken if I'd known about this. Best advice: avoid the M50 if possible. All the other toll roads have proper booths.

For the M50 you can pay in advance.
Motorhomes are the same price/class as a car.
Keep the receipt for at least 6 months as the anr cameras sometimes think that a motorhome is a commercial vehicle and you may receive a payment notice by post some months later.
All other toll roads have manned booths.
The toll for the Dublin Port tunnel is €3 but this increases to €10 at certain times of the day.

First time I went to Ireland there weren't any motorways, just the rocky road to Dublin. but that was before they joined the EU.

Next time I went the whole of the east of Ireland seemd to be criss crossed with motorways partly under construction. But that was after they joined and were getting all the assistance.

Somehow it felt like a little bit of the soul had left. (or is that me just looking back through greent tinted glasses?
