Help, driving licence expires when I'm in Spain

We've had to move our 3 month trip to Spain because of hospital appointments, now my driving licence is due to expire when we're still there. Does anyone know if I can apply for the licence early?

I think, as I'm over 70 and I've given up my C, I don't have to pay to renew. I'll apply today and see how quick it is.

Just before Christmas I received my replacement licence 6 days after I applied for it. C1 not an issue as also gave it up at 70.

You can apply on-line for your B licence renewal now, and then later re-apply to renew your C1.
 
Did mine on-line and it came back in a week and that was over Christmas...
 
I tried to renew online, but the system wouldn't let me. I called, and it was answered within 5 minutes, I found out I cannot renew online until 14th February, I could apply by post before, but more chance of it getting lost. I will apply online on February 14th that gives me 2 weeks to get it back. Even if it doesn't arrive before we go my daughter could send it to me as long as it does arrive.

A word of caution. I applied for mine on the 23rd October the day I had my medical. I have spoken to DVLA on three occasions to inform them that i was travelling to Spain on the 8th January. My current licence expires on the 20th January. I am in Spain now and the licence has still not been issued.

I applied 90 days before and new licence (C1e) issued with the the date it was issued.
Lost c75 days on it. :swear2:
Rechecked their website and it does say this but well buried in there!

Fist date to apply on-line is only 2 weeks before expiry.? That seems ridiculous, suppose Christmas NY intervene?

Maaybe she made a mistake and she should have said Jan 14th.

I would double check with them - they are not known for consistency and reliability.

I can apply 90 days before renewal, if I apply on the first day, 14th February, I have two weeks before I leave
