Seems the weather is just a tad better than when we were there last!:RollEyes::RollEyes:

Been to Tan Hill recently and I’m afraid it wasn’t a particularly pleasant experience. Yes the views were lovely and the pub has a bit of a rustic charm but the food was less than mediocre!! Fish and chips were well over cooked, mashed potatoes had not been seasoned and the cheese and onion pie pastry was hard. You pay £5 to stop overnight whether you are eating in the pub or not. ☹️☹️

Now just outside Glenrothes and may not have been a good idea to book two nights but it’s nice and quiet
Then Stonehaven for 3 days which looks really nice and while there we’ll explore Aberdeen Esplanade up the way

If you're going on the club site you can come out the gate and turn right along past the chippy, bowling club, etc and there's a boardwalk all the way along to the harbour where's there's a couple of pubs.
See if you can find the Bank! I couldn't.

Aberdeen esplanade
Parking galore and this Bus cafe was the mutts nuts. Not much to look at but very clean and excellent food with service

If you're looking for supplies the "car parking" at Lidls in Tain is good. Just off the A9 as well.
Morrisons in Alness is also just off the A9 and may be easier to get to than the one in Inverness.
We're planning to be at Culloden tomorrow on our way to Orkney. Stopping at Brora on the way back down!

Thanks we got LPG at first services after moray bridge
Morrisons was too packed to park so stopped at Alness too
What’s the ferry cost to Orkney ?

Blowing a gale and best today was 17 degrees
We have plenty of food and drink a full tank of diesel a full tank of LPG a great WiFi connection and satellite TV
A good Glenmorangie to finish the day

Top tip. If you haven’t booked to Orkney in this wind you might want to rethink. Scrabster ferry took 2 hrs + ( normally 90 mins). There is a reason why the isles have virtually no trees they get blown away. I thought the van when parked for the Lymington meet rocked a lot but this is something else!

We're booked for end of the week and staying at Dunnet Bay for a couple of days before so we can assess the weather before going. No deposit required just pay on boarding.(y)

Wick £22 per night by the river
Assuming it's the site in Wick hope you went down the river bank entrance as the other one is a trifle "ooooops will we fit?" BTW, believe it's an ex C&MC site.

If you're still there you should be able to get parked up at the entrance road to the golf club - just passed their gate (off A99 to Jo'G at Reiss) about 3 miles up the road from the Tesco Superstore and there's a fabulous beach just through the dunes.

Where's next?

Yes everyone manages to follow the sat nav to find this ridiculous low entrance and instructions to get to the alternative way in
Pathetic management really

We head for Skye tomorrow with one stop
Don’t know where yet

Apparently Everest have just done another advert there which will be shown soon.

To quote the advert (Inaccurately) "You only fit double glazing once, so fit the worst...Neverlast"

We went through it with our twin axle caravan but it was just a tad worrying!

How about a stop on the Black Isle? If you can get onto Fortrose Bay Caravan Park it's a decent site. 10 minutes walk along the golf course to the point to see the dolphins and then back along the other side of the point on the road or sandy beach to the C&CC site at Rosemarkie and then follow the road over the "hill" back to Fortrose. You can park at the point but usually busy.
There's a couple of pubs in Fortrose within 10 minutes walk.

Eh, a dolphin.

The site.
