We're finally on our way to France, Spain and Portugal! Came down yesterday which was a long drive due to the ruddy truck fire on the A14 so we had a long detour on side roads. ๐Ÿ™„. Idiots on the Motorways, one right up the rear bumper of one car who then got fed up and weaved in and out undertaking and attempting to get through a gap between 2 cars on the white lines!!! Fortunately realized he wouldn't fit and backed off. The biggest idiot though was the one who appeared to have missed his exit, STOPPED in the outside lane and indicated to pull into the other lanes, I assume considering driving the wrong way to get to his junction. ๐Ÿ˜ณ Don't think there was a problem with the car otherwise the hazard lights (is both sets of indicators) would no doubt have been on.

Stopped at Papa's chippy then down to Marine Drive on Folkestone sea front for the night right next to a lovely park/garden/prom, perfect for the dogs, will definitely use it again.

This morning had a lovely potter with the dogs, shopping at Lidl then went to Abbeywell vets for AHC for dogs, parking round the back, quick and easy to do. Off to Tesco for a few bits we couldn't get at Lidl then we're 'robbed for diesel at Tesco at ยฃ1.809 a litre!!!!! ๐Ÿคฌ

Now at Eurotunnel having checked the dogs in ... Wear wellies when you do as the dogs just wee everywhere not to mention the poo the lab in front of us did๐Ÿคข which I cleaned up as the owner was in bit of a panic as she was worried she was gonna miss her train.

Nice bit of home cooked gammon sarnies for lunch so just waiting for the call to go to boarding etc. Hope they don't confiscate our 'goodies'.๐Ÿ˜

Speak again on the other side.๐Ÿ˜€

Minxy is the place you overnighted in Folkestone just under the Leas? I ask as last time I used the Leas they had just stopped MH parking there and I hadnโ€™t noticed sign and got fined๐Ÿคฌso looking for alternative like yours would be great๐Ÿ˜Š

Donโ€™t be in a rush to reach the Costas, there is rain forecast for the next week or so and itโ€™s full of Sahara sand.
Have a great trip.

Nice to see that you managed to get away.
Take your time and enjoy

stayed there a couple of weeks ago, lovely.
and using the ring go app it only charged me for a small van whe I input my reg.
Have fun, no one at the chunnel even bothered looking in my van, just asked if gas was off and done.

This was the state of our van at los Escullos, this morning. It's raining now, so some of it is washing off.
Weather is supposed to be better on Friday.
Maybe, the western side of Spain is going to get better weather than us, here in the east๐Ÿค”

That's where we overnight before the chunnel. There's a great Nepalese restaurant in town if you ever need an evening meal.

We got caught up in this mayhem, too! Absolute madness with, as you say, the best displays of appalling driving I think I've ever seen!! :rolleyes:Wishing you a great holiday

The bulk of the sand has now deposited onto our patio, our car and perhaps the motorhome...a lot of the stuff was washed away last night with fairly heavy rain....more later.....improving tomorrow....a fairly regular pattern which hasn't been seen as bad as this for some time.

Woke up this morning (Charente, France) and realised the storm we'd had while we were away  MoHo and everything else covered in sand but no sign of rain to wash it away!! :(

Regarding the AHC from Abbeywell, what sort of time scale is required eg sendinding details.
cheers

Hi Nick, depending on how busy they are, we've had ours turned around within a week on the 2 occasions we used them.

No idea, just went right to the end near the 'lift house', it's fee until 1st April then charges during the day only.

I sent the info just over a week before we needed it and got a notification in 3 days to say it was ready.

Well yesterday was a right palaver! When we crossed over on Wednesday we headed for Montreuil aire which was full but fortunately there's the big parking area next to it so we spent the night in there.

Yesterday morning we had a nice potter with the dogs along the outside of the walls then into the village so they were nice and tired and would sleep for our long drive ... And what a very long drive it turned out to be! I won't bore you with all the details but there were loads of roadworks and detours with more detours! By the time we got to Nonancourt it was full so we went to one at the fishing lake but it was a bit muddy so we just had a potter with the dog then set off to Prunay le Gillion going round the village a couple of times before finding the parking.

Fortunately yesterday morning hubby put a nice pork joint (half price from Tesco) in the Ecopot which we had for tea ... it was gorgeous and saved having to cook a full meal as we just had it with spuds and peas.

Just about to have giant a pancake for breakfast so I'll report back later.๐Ÿ˜Š

Soโ€ฆโ€ฆ it is โ€œHeading for the sun, sea and SANDโ€โ€ฆโ€ฆ what not getting any of the other โ€œSโ€โ€ฆโ€ฆ.. of course, I mean Sangria!!!

We arrived back home yesterday after a six week trip to Santander, south to Gibraltar, enjoying the south and east med coasts of Spain, but finding being a little inland in smaller Spanish Villages more to our liking, returning with a 10-day slowish drive north through France to Caen for our return crossing. A good trip and now have a full wine quota to last a few months at home.

Hope you have a safe and enjoyable time.

I see a lot of rain in Spain, checked our cameras since we left on Monday and its non stop wind & rain.

I hope it improves for Easter.

Meanwhile......

According to my forecast Javea had rain from 4.00 this morning and non stop we had a light shower about 10.00 for 20 minutes no rain since, washing on the line nearly dry quite windy and hopefully blowing all that sandy stuff in land, you be pleased to know we have had very little. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Ž Bob.
