having helped a fellow traveler whose leisure battery had gone flat and had a cap machine just wondered the inefficiency of what I did. Hasten to add I would do it again in a shot. I have 560 amps of lithium, 700 watts of solar but at night no sun and a Victron 12/2000/80-30 inverter charger. Turned the inverter on ran a lead to their van for an hour they had a 30 amp charger after an hour they were ok as the recovery truck arrived (alternator gone) our batt showed 73% down from 91% just wondered how much is lost in this process?

Multiplus is very efficient inverter losses will be less than 10%, can't count the loss through his charger as you would get that on mains anyway.

About 240Wh from your battery at around 13v ish, and into the charged battery about 185Wh. A guesstimated loss of 7% inverter and 15% charger. Total loss 22% max I would say.

Yes .well done for being able to help out.
I tryst your fellow traveller now sees the merits of lithium.

I would happily run the batteries flat given the situation, as all I would have to do is either run my Genny or engine. It was just an enquiring mind that raised the question. All done in the spirt of good neighbours
