Have shell stopped selling gas?

After the fire at the LPG pump I don't think they have replaced the LPG pump, it's not showing up on Fil LPG.

ThAT WAS DUE TO GO JUST AS THE FIRE HAPPENED. fILLED UP THERE AND THERE WAS A NOTE ON IT (sorry, didn't notice capslock) saying they were getting rid in a week or 2.

Sometimes when a station is added nobody notices for a while, and there would be no complaints anyway even if they did.

Bad news travels fast and creates the impression they are disappearing fast.

There is one near me in Dover BUT they take advantage and chrgin 75p per litre the next is on the M20 at 24 Hours service passed the Eurotunnel. The less there are the more they charge.

Gone from Shell station in Stirling!

I am certain that I read last year that shell uk had changed lpg supplier and will only be selling cylinders as pumps are removed

Sorry to see LPG disappearing I have run LPG vehicles for years. The latest kits are nothing like the conversions of the seventies they are very reliable and the ones I have had have only needed replacement filters. As we seem to be buying more petrol cars than diesel now LPG might just make a comeback. Its the only fuel as far as I know thats allowed inside stores and warehouses running forktrucks.

This is the reply I received from Shell last month when I moaned about the demise of LPG at my nearest garage:

Thank you for taking the time to inform us of your feedback through the survey comments submitted on 23.08.2019 regarding your visit at Shell Budgens Southam.

I am writing in response to your concern on the removal of LPG services at Shell service stations.

LPG is a valuable energy source for numerous business applications in industry and transportation. However, in the UK, customer demand for LPG for domestic transportation is declining and many of our Autogas service stations are increasingly underutilised. As a result we are moving towards offering alternative low-carbon transport fuels such as electric vehicle charging or hydrogen, areas where we are seeing increasing customer demand.

The removal of LPG from our sites is not a decision we have taken lightly. In the absence of the Shell offering there are still over 1000 Autogas sites throughout the UK and you may find the following links: www.filllpg.co.uk and www.drivelpgco.uk useful for finding alternative sites.

I would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that this decision has caused and to thank you again for reaching out to us with your concerns.
Sincerely,
Lovella

I use a local independent lpg supplier.
Just pull up fill yourself pay and go i would research inpendants in your area. They supply bottled gas and deliver all around our area so cant see them packing it in soon!

SO what do I do? do I cancel the new system which is not cheap, transfer the old to the new, or just go back to plain old bottled gas in the new van.
Option 2 - transfer the old system - that's one of the major selling points. I'm assuming you're getting your new MH via a dealer (and px-ing) so it won't make any difference as they won't have given you a price including it anyway, same with any other bits and bobs that you could use in your MH (within reason!).

I wonder if LPG conversions on petrol engine cars will make a comeback especially at the price of petrol now and the higher number of miles people tend to travel?

The Calor depot in Carlisle refuses to fill motorhomes and I heard last month that they are going to remove their Autogas pump too.
Simon Meadwell, luckily we have a couple of independents in our area that supply Autogas, a small 3 pump garage and a welding supplies company.

I think this is the sign of the times petrol diesel gas all disappearing, the main attention now seems to be electric everything:(

No such problems at the Calor depot on the A14 just south of Bury St Edmunds

Shell garage at Fakenham has recently removed the autogas pump, which is a bit of a shame for the motorhomers heading for the Norfolk coast. Stations with LPG getting a bit thin on the ground in North Norfolk.

BP still selling it on A47 east of Swaffham or A17 at Long Sutton.

Maybe it’s time to consider the cost of lithium batteries and solar upgrades by going all electric as the excellent Gadget John explains below:

I hope Morrison’s at Kings Lynn are still selling LPG.??⛽️?

Not sure I'd say excellent, interesting but he don't half waffle!

Both shell station's on the A63 around Hull have taken there pumps out 2 jet station's near bridlington have also taken pumps out aswell

They aren't disappearing on the "Fill LPG" app. When it updates it totals 3 statistics...

Added, removed, and updated.

Every few days one is added or deleted but mostly they are just updated.

Even if they do all dissappear from forecourts you'll still be able to get it from distribution plants (probably?)

Flo-Gas in Beverley removed the LPG pump over 3 years ago. So that too may not always be an option?.

BTW. when I had R-V`s I had an "extendastay" system, which allowed me to bypass the Fixed gas system If and when I wanted and use (Virtually) any gas cylinder I could get.

I've got one of them. I call mine a BBQ connection ?.

Yes (and very cheap), but access looks a bit tight, depending on your van size.

They certainly do, on an admittedly unscientific basis, seem to be reducing in number. What I've also experienced at pumps near me, that the pumps themselves are not maintained very well. I tried to fill up at the BP garage near Bilborough just outside York and the pump connected but after only a few seconds it switched off. I filled up at Fishguard on the same trip and it took £11 of gas, so I knew the tank was nearly empty.
Similarly, we went to one on the Harrogate Road outside York and the nozzle had been damaged and was unusable. Would like to find a reliable one near York.

I have had a few problems lately , my usual BP station is being referbished , Morrison's nozxel would not fit ? I ended up at Flogas , there's only one problem, Coventry is considering an LEZ and Flogas would be in it ☹️
and so is my garage that I have used for 40 years

... no-one wants to go there now so what's the point?
