it seems to me that this has several things going for it, not least light weight and reasonable cheap.

Can't imagine that the performance is much more than any typical swamp cooler although here you're paying for neatness and connivance rather than pure performance. If Nespresso made coolers then it would probably look like this.

The little Transcool 12v unit being sold at mohome shows works well

The Transcool looks good. Another decision made: no roof a/c.
