Had anyone bought prescription glasses in France?

Hi All, we need to get a pair of varifocals glasses whilst traveling through France. Anyone done this and have some recommendations for companies, opticians chains?

I've read that prescription glasses in France are the dearest in Europe.

Buy something to get you by until you get home .

varifocals are far dearer here in spain than the uk.My wife gets two pairs in the UK @ Asda's for less than 1 pair costs here + they have all the extras on them.
