Our 2018 Swift 560L has a door problem. When we close it only the bottom “ bolt” is engaging, the top one is floppy and doesn’t close properly. We are currently ensuring we use the remote to lock the door in place whenever travelling, but are concerned what happens if the bottom bolt fails too. I’m interested to know if it is something that can be fixed by a new door mechanism, rather than having to buy a complete new door. We live in Hertfordshire where it’s hard to find a dealer willing to look at anything without booking three months in advance. I attach pictures showing the problem. Any advice please?

You or someone is going to have to remove the door inner moulding/panel. Best if you do it so you are certain of likely cost. If possible leave it off when going to the dealer to speed diagnosis and reduce cost.

I have heard of this happening before.
It will likely be a broken spring.
You will need to remove the inner door skin to have a look.

Is it easy to remove? We are pretty useless at anything mechanical.

Thanks, yes this might help. A bit scary to think we’d need to fork out such a lot of money.

update. Many thanks for advice about the spring. I found another video on YouTube suggesting the outer door casing might just be stuck on with velcro. I prised the door cover off using a plastic spatula and sure enough the cover came off to reveal a broken spring at the top. We made a temporary repair using an earring hook to join the spring to the upper rod. Put the cover back and it now works. Will try and source a spring somewhere, but it is locking top and bottom now. Thanks everybody.

I see what you mean. I’ll make a note of this if my repair fails!

I had same problem with our door 2 years ago while over in Spain for the winter ,it was a broken spring and was quite easy to repair with a new spring .The difficulty is getting the inner door panel off ,I drilled the plastic rivets out and found some new ones on the internet to use when fitting the doorpanel back on.If I can find the photos I will post them for you.
