Habitation Check Pricing - How much?

I have just had my habitation check done at the same time as my first MOT. Stupidly, I didn't ask the price before hand, I thought it was about £80-100. I have just picked it up and they charged £258 + VAT! I was absolutely astounded. I just feel a bit ripped off tbh. My own fault for not checking but the guy was saying it took at least 4 hours and they did 40+ tests, etc. I am sure the last one I had done was less than £100.

I am curious, what do people pay for their Hab check?

Having ours done in a couple of weeks £185 independent Guy charged us £165 last yr, he's here a good 2 to 3 hrs.

Hab check £180 including gas and electrics . Cannot fault him . Calibre Caravan and Motorhomes

One test every 6 minutes !! That'll do=1. That'll do=2. That'll do=3. ect ect, Money for old rope at that rate.

mine has to be main dealer ,,where i bought it quoted £285,,called another main dealer in Wales ,,hab and damp check £192 you know where its going ,,and its 4 hours closer

4 hours is ridiculous. Adria dealer does mine for £200 inc vat but it was an offer if I booked it 2 years ago. You can use the Approved workshop Scheme to find somewhere else next time. Last one I had done was £165 last year. Unfortunately he's retired so will have to find somebody else next time.

Habitation and leak inspection service (this includes a gas test) £434.00

Leak inspection only £179.92

Full mechanical service £484.00

Interim mechanical service £384.00

MOT £58.60

All inclusive of VAT

If they provided a checklist of what was done then there's plenty on here who can tell you if it was a reasonable price

Consort hab check is £450 and a condition of the warranty.

It's very thorough though.

I don’t spend anything on hab checks but then my van doesn’t really warrant it, but if I did have an expensive one which I did at one time I learnt enough to do them myself, probably far better then some oink in a dealers….

My Adria dealer charged 4 hours labour so over £300 last July, and I saw them remove the passenger seat to disconnect & check each of the leisure batteries which took a fair bit of time. NCC suggest the examination should take around 3 hours & this year I’ll use one of their members at about £180 I think.
