Good morning.
The hab door lock on my 56 Ducato Rapido has stopped working.
It works if I operate it manually, using the up/down locking handle inside the van.
When I use the key fob,the vehicle door locks work, but not the hab. There is no noise from the hab lock mechanism.
I can’t even get the key into the hab door keyhole.

Any suggestions welcome,thanks.:giggle:(y)

I’m not very techie,so if it involves the brain of Einstein or the diy skills of someone who can build their own moho,I will put up with it until it’s in for a service next month.

You will either have contacts on the door and frame or wires. If contacts then clean them with one of those green scourers. If wires then maybe one is broken which means some one technical looking at it!

Thanks. stevec . The strange thing is I can’t even get the key in the lock.

Anybody else had this problem? I’ve already searched threads on here but not seen this come up.

We have to regularly clean the contacts so the hab door will operate with the remote.

I guess the hab door can twist out of alignment and sometimes we have to lean against the door so the contacts align.

I don't think the key fits into the lock either.

You will probably have to take the internal panel of and check the wires to the solinoyd(spelt wrong)that operates the locking mechanism. I have known a wire to drop off 😉 No idea why the key won't fit into the lock, are you sure you have the right key ?
Edit while you have it off lube the mechanism

I have to regularly clean mine too. The odd thing g about my system is that if I lock the van with the drivers door key, the hab door locks as well but when i undo the cab door with the key the hab door doesn't. Never has although it sounds like something might be happening in the hab door lock. Very strange.

Not trying to be smart or insulting but as someone else said make sure you are using the key that opens the lockers. ( Ours has a red fob)

We had a panic when the central locking was swamped by CB users and had to open the door manually when in France.

Well,well,well !!
No,you are not being a smart arse or insulting.......BUT........................
Podney is a plonker of the first order......yes,I was using the wrong key!
I don’t belieeeeeeve it!

So now I have a hab door that does open manually with the (right!) key.
All I’ve got to do now is get it to open with the key fob.

Thank you.

Now Im using the right key I can open the door manually! Haha, what a pillock I is!
What are these contacts you refer to please .....I don’t think I have any. There are wires going into the door, within a flexible wire casing,so maybe I have a different system.
Thanks.

I see there are wires going into the door through a flexible rubbery casing,so I think the wiring may be the culprit.
Can’t see any form of contact points to clean.

Thanks.

The wire in the flexi sometimes snap .Pull flexi back ,pull each wire either side of the flexi if snapped just retwist together typical Rapido fault over time .enjoy lol.

Got a similar problem with out hab door, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, including using the button on the dash. Pretty sure it'll be a broken wire, it's happened before. I'll sort it when I get home at the weekend - it's just a pain getting the door cover off.

I have the same problem. Can you tell me what a 'contact' looks kike please so I can try cleaning.

Thank you.

You'll see them along the opening edge of the door if you have them.
Ours has 3 little buttons on the frame and a matching 3 on the door itself.
They need to be clean and properly aligned and then the hab door is locked and alarmed at the same time as the cab doors.
The garage just has one magnetic contact that operates the alarm if the door is opened.
This is a Cobra aftermarket fitted alarm and I'm sure there are different configurations.

Appreciate your help. I can now check out if I have them.
