I have an issue with my habitation door. I noticed a couple of days ago that the lower latch was not lower going in properly when the door handle was pulled. I performed a quick test with the door open by locking the latches in the “closed” position and pulling the handle. The top latch spung back but the lower one didn’t move, so I thought there must be a spring that has broken/become detached. It didn’t concern me too much as the door appeared to function correctly as the lower latch would move around the post to open. However, today, the latch has started catching on the post and I can’t open the door from the outside, and only by assisting the lower latch to move can we open it from the inside. We have been lucky as we have Heosafe deadlocks on both doors and we had just come back to the motorhome and opened it up only five minutes before it had started sticking. If it had happened with both deadlocks engaged we would have been in trouble. So, my question is, does anyone know the part number for the lower latch and where I can buy one? I have a 2019 Adria Coral Supreme.

If you can remove the inner panel you might find it's just a broken spring or the spring may be in the bottom of the door. You might not need to go to the expense of replacing a perfectly good latch.

There is a good chance it’s just a spring broken. Try looking on UTube 👍

If it looks like the one below, replacement springs are sometimes available on ebay.
Alternatively, buy a box of assorted springs and modify one to suit.

Here are pics to try and show what the latch looks like. The first one is the top latch which works. The second pic is the lower latch . You can see that the lower latch, apart from not springing back, has had a piece of plastic that has been stretched, maybe because of the fact the spring has been broken. When I push the stretched piece to bulge outwards the door can be opened so I will have to try and find something to hold it in place. However, I do think I need a new latch because of the stretched plastic.

A common cause of these types of failure is yanking at the handle to check you have locked the door with the key to check it's locked. It stresses the components and eventually something stretches or breaks.

If locking the van it's best just to trust the lock or if you must pull on the handle do it gently.

Hi Colin - did you have any joy with this? I have just had the same problem with my Hymer door which looks exactly the same.

MattBS The springs in the catches commonly break. If you search 'Hymer door lock springs' on e-bay, you should find replacements. The difficult bit is removing the door lining to replace the springs.
It has been done, and you should find instructions on how to go about it, on the forum somewhere.
Alternatively, there's a lot of information on the Hymer Owners Facebook group.
