Hi Finders.
I would like to draw from the collective knowledge base to understand for those motorhomes which use a construction which involves an aluminium internally skinned sandwich panel for walls (and presumably ceilings) like Frakia, Hymer , Carthago etc., how is the annual damp check conducted, with what equipment?
Clearly, aluminium is an ideal conductor. Any internal finish on the wall is likely to be very thin. Depending how hard the tester presses, could it start picking up the aluminium conductivity and report false moisture readings?
Worst still, if a penetrating, pronged meter, the tester is certainly going to be merely testing aluminium conductivity, and in the process leaving exposed tiny spots of bare aluminium which are now exposed to any humidity, free to turn into aluminum oxide over time via the corrosion process.
I wonder what people with aluminium internally walled Motorhomes have actually experienced and whether you have any pointers, like what to ask, where to go have it done in the midlands, where to avoid, what meter did they use, or did they not use a meter at all?
