I quite like his programmes but they would be over in half the time if he only said things once 😁
Isn't that the case with most tv these days 😒 .
Introduction - showing all the stuff that'll be shown during the programme
The programme - showing all the same stuff shown in the introduction.
Conclusion - showing all the stuff they've just shown you.

Drives me mental.
It's worse if they do "after the break" and "Before the break" segments

I don't know if it's because their target audience has an attention span of a goldfish, or
they don't actually have enough 'content' to fill the programme slot.

Was it a Dutch lake or German . A Lancaster landed in a lake at Pina Munde in Germany where v 2 bombers were launched or made.
"Peenemünde"

A fascinating place, well worth the visit, although it was massively bombed, there is more than enough left to give you and idea of what went on.

Pub Quiz question:
Q: What was the main limitation stopping the Germans launching more V2's?
A: Potatoes!

Each V2 took 40 tonnes of potatoes to make enough rocket fuel to reach the UK.
(Two modern 40' HGV lorries fully loaded per V2)
They simply could not get enough potatoes!

It also means that rough moonshine, when said to taste like rocket fuel, is technically accurate!

If you watch all the ww2 youtube stuff, I'm amazed how much hardware is still being dug up or dragged out from remote areas

I know a lot of forum members enjoy Guy Martins TV programs, so with that in minds I thought I'd mention that he has a show on Channel 4 @9pm on Sunday evening about a Lancaster bomber which crashed into a Dutch lake during the war.
Enjoy..Rob

Totally agree.
This feature started appearing just before COVID I think. It now seems to be a standard part of many programmes.
Totally unnecessary. Just doubles the programme length.
Maybe it's to attract the channel surfers with a gnat's brain and attention span.
Wherever possible we watch on catch up and fast forward to the main content.

I think it was even before that. Probably on the minor commercial channels.

The ones that I really really hate are not in the UK but mainly [but not exclusively] the US.

The programme content finishes, but the host/narrator screams "Don't go away, we'll be right back", then an ad break... then all they say is "goodnight" and the credits roll.

Thank goodness for small mercies though. UK TV is basically allowed 7 minutes per hour* for ad breaks [but it might be cause for the extended repetition]

*12 mins for a single clock hour
8 mins between 6pm to 11pm

The reason i asked if dutch or german lake there was a documentary with John Saergant they laid a wreath on the lake for the dead . The mod wouldn’t accept the plane crashed in there if im correct.

For those with a fascination of crashed WWII planes in Dutch lakes , then it's worth reading about the draining of the Flevoland Polder.

As you ride your bike across miles of farmland and small towns, factories and farms, past apparently 'old' forests, miles from the sea, you come across multiple monuments to crashed planes that were found as the ploder was drained in the 1960's.
There is an interesting museum on the island with many of the finds.

dont own one yet.
Just to give some context, “ het IJsselmeer “ is not your typical lake, previous it was a Sea, named “ de zuiderzee” it only became a “lake” when they build the massive Dam “ de afsluitdijk”
They created a whole new county, named “ Flevo polder “ by pumping it dry, my grandfather was one of the workers involved together with thousands of others who walked for days to go and work there.
The first idea was to Drain much more and create another 3/4 counties but this was halted because of wild life concerns👍

My wife's maternal Grandfather came over here from Holland in the early 1900's to do drainage work on the Norfolk Fenns, but moved up to near Stirling, then ended up working at the peat moss near Gretna Green where he lived till he retired.
We got talking to a Dutch guy at a site on the Mosel and were explaining Val's Dutch ancestry, he was intrigued by the surname "Boertien" which to him meant "farmer number ten" and surmised that at some point, probably on an early census or something, that they would have been given that surname by some bureaucrat ?
