Sat enjoying a Boxing evening meal when 'ping' received a message from my Van Bitz Meta system saying that the alarm had been triggered. First such alarm in two years since installation, spilt a good glass of vino in my reaction. We're 200 miles from the storage site but it's owned by a fantastic family. Spoke to the owner who was also eating out but said he would call me back when he'd checked the van. Sure enough 30 minutes later he phoned to say our vehicle was untouched but an adjacent vehicle's alarm was going like the clappers. Our leds were flashing normally, no incursion group flash so no obvious attempt to break in.
It's a very secure site and the owner will be getting a thank you bottle for turning out tonight.

A question then for Eddie Van Bitz or other owners, could the adjacent alarm have triggered mine? Electromagnetic disturbance of some sort? Would be interested to know.

Call my cynical. But for 2 different alarms to go off right next to each other suggests that something nefarious may be happening.

A criminal deliberately setting off the alarms to time how fast the response is? Or to try to build up a mistrust in the alarm so that responses aren't forthcoming in the future?

I wouldn't be so quick to write it off as a false alarm.

Does the Storage site have CCTV, the storage site we used for our caravan years ago had them, maybe they could check to see if anyone had been prowling arround the vans.
You could also fit your own CCTV, either an internal camera, or a dash cam that has various perimeter settings including a G force one, that you can access via your mobile phone once you have a mi fi with sim card.
I was looking at this video below from Cameron Mcneish a few days back, you may find it interesting as dash cams seem to have moved on some what recently.
Hope you get some peace of mind soon. Typical Cameron though he does cover every angle in detail, but that can sometimes be a good thing.

I have WiFi in my camper and a Blink camera, it has motion detection or I can access it at will. Lithium battery operated, App controlled and easy to use. I have used them for a couple of years in and around my house and can’t fault them.

Your alarm has a diagnostic function and you will be able to find out which circuit caused the alarm to trigger, which will lead to why.

All jotted down in your bespoke installation instruction. If you’ve lost them drop an email to info@vanbitz.com I have retired but was invited to the staff Christmas party and they said they were going to check for emergency emails between Christmas and New Year, but not sure if loosing instructions would count as an emergency!

One alarm activation, first in two years faultless service is suspicious, two is definitely suspicious, Grommets instincts as usual are correct.

No, one alarm triggered cannot affect the other, however a very common alarm cause which can affect multiple vehicles when parked in close proximity is Mice. No one ever believes it can happen to them, till they catch them or they see the damage, happens more this time of year and in more rural settings, but can happen anywhere.

To such and extent we added a section in about it on the alarm crib sheet

Thanks Eddie. The alarm crib sheet is a fascinating read, I've added it to the documentation. The storage site is very rural and is a CASSOA Gold site so pretty good security. Rabbits have been a problem, mice not to my knowledge. A possibility is that for the first time I parked with the windscreen silver external screen installed due to the low temperatures. This might have caused the triggering. Until I get on site to double check the leds I'm none the wiser.
Thanks for the other comments.

Yup, mice was traced back to be the cause of our triggers.
