My motorhome came with a single 75ah flooded lead acid battery. I heard of Offgrid Power Solutions through Fun and Jim had good things to say about them so after swapping some emails to define what I wanted I decided to to have the lead acid battery replaced with a lithium (LifePO4) battery. They have a field where you can stay so I arrived one afternoon for the install to be done the following day.
Nigel kindly dropped me into town so I could have a wander while the installation was being done. It's a family business and they have tons of experience of offgrid type installations, for example on the day I arrived Rogerand Nigel had been doing an install of on a narrow boat of a 2000 watt array of panels with 48v custom made LifePO4 batteries.
As I said I had swapped some emails with Nigel and spoken on the phone and the install we arrived at was to swap out the lead battery for lithium, assess the van to see if a b2b was required, and install a busbar so I can myself attach the inverter and add some usb sockets. I gave them a small extra problem, I had lost the pin to my victron mppt solar controller and they used the controller puk to reset the pin so they could change the victron config from lead to lithium.
I'm really pleased with what I have now, the new 100ah lithium takes up slightly less space than the old lead battery (shorter but a bit taller) and I will be able to use my inverter to use the microwave from time to time (the microwave is 320watt of heat energy and peak 1000w electric and my inverter is 1000w continuous). The price was very reasonable (they give a Fun discount too!) and as a family business they are very easy to communicate with.
