Bought this dead cheap just as a runabout but having had a good look at it, seems to be loads of room, for a conversion,

has anyone seen one done? Or any ideas on how to go about it

This might be helpful mate.
If the ML is a diesel then I think you've got the best engine Mercedes Benz ever produced.

Robert.

Yes
1. Lift rear panels up and convert it into a 4 or 5 seater

2. Completely remove rear panels and convert into a van.

Seriously convert into what exactly, Some of the Bongo kits could be adapted to fit
But eat, sleep and chill Not in a vehicle that size IMHO

Not same car .. but at a site down South a few months ago there was a lady had her estate car converted. I really liked it.

For a single person it was adeauate and took away the expense of needing van plus car for home use. She had 'fixed it' so that when the back doors open they opened into small, easily erected tent for extra space. I did ask who did the conversion and have forgotten but have seen her twice now. Will ask again when I see her.

Geo .. think it may be because I only have phone, not laptop,I couldn't find any prices .. Can you give us a rough indication please?

They look to be the one the lady had of which I spoke. Ideal for a solo traveller.

Handy for a hobbit to stand up in ;)

Far to many variables and design factors, to offer price lists per se, including who supplies the vehicle them or you
they may be willing to quote perhaps on any suggestion you may have though

thing is though , you can get carried away with what you actually need, must admit i like my own toilet and shower which my present ambulance conversion was built around but for a couple of nights away you dont need much more than a bed, think camping but inside, then add on what you can table and chairs , small gas stove, tank of water and a small sink and you are away . limits you to somewhere with toilets and showers but loads of motorhomers do that anyway even though they have them on board.
