I replaced some of the sealant around the habitation door frame with Sikflex 522. This was some time ago. It has never set and is gooey to touch. It has dripped a bit and because it is still gooey attracts dirt. It looks bloody awful and messy.

I assumed it was suppoed to set a bit like bathroom sealant. Is it possible I got a dodgy batch or have I bought the wrong thing? Or maybe even it is not genuine.

Was it cold when you did it? From memory 522 needs temps above 5°C to cure properly

My money would be on dodgy batch (never heard of that before but possible) or counterfeit. Should go off like a sealant (although it is also an adhesive so you will be working a little harder to get it off when the time come). What is the use-by date on the tube and how long ago did you apply it?

Definitely not right, get in touch with the manufacturer with the batch code.

Cheers

Was any of the old sealant left in place, if so could that have reacted with the new stuff?
