Happy New year folks , first question on the new year, I will need to replace tyres on the Adria Matrix soon especially the front ones due to front wheel drive , I've seen lots of folks fit the Goodrich all terrain tyres but at the same time the change the wheels as well, can you not run the tyres on existing alloys that came on the van ???? Or can they fit onto these existing wheels ,

I kept the same (steel) wheels and they fitted with no problems. Very impressed with them BTW, their grip on wet grass is exceptional which is the main reason I chose them, road noise is not a problem and the ride is much improved. The only downside was the lingering smell of new rubber for several weeks.

I'm pondering those but am a bit concerned that the additional chunkiness might impinge on clearances on the wheel arches.

Tyre clearance is ok on my Fiat PVC. I do have rear air. I’ve been running them since May last year and I’m very happy with them. The only time I noticed any road noise was on the lovely smooth French motorway. It disappeared on return to the UK 🙄

My Carthago Compactline is OK for clearance on the front but the fit round the rear wheels is a bit snug. I was wondering how much wider than a conventional tread they are at the shoulder.

Clearance all good on our Fiat Ducato PVC with no air suspension.
I don't find them any noisier than the crappy camping car tyres they replaced.
They DO sound different though, a bit like normal tyres on a hot sticky road.

I’ve been pondering going from our 15” steels to 16” alloys, with these tyres (from the place in Reading).

Looks as if I’d have to remove our mudflaps though. May get away with the front ones left on, but the gap around the rear arch looks to be an issue with them fitted.

Anyone measured the gap between tyres and wheel arch?🤔👍

Had them fitted on my '21 Burstner 744 now on my Auto-trail Tracker. Plenty of room under wheel arches. Not a lot of road noise and the grip is superb. Fitted by Elite Wheels in Reading.

All you guys fitting the BFG,s. You should know that when they have a few miles on them they have a bit of a rep for letting go in the wet. I’ve used them on my Lanny for years, got a new set on it now! I wouldn’t put them on my motorhome.

Yep, once the sips have worn down then the properties of the tyre have gone….

They do look good though….😎

The Davantis dont have quite the same tread pattern, ( all the tread blocks are joined like a all weather tyre) and are grippy in the wet. Cheaper too, just a shame they have a funny name ‘terratourer’

I have to take issue on a couple of points.
Surely once 𝐚𝐧𝐲 tyre is worn beyond the stipes, its effectiveness is reduced, not just BFG's.
In the 40 or so years I've owned campervans or motorhomes, I've never yet had to change the tyres because they were worn out, they were either time ex or they were total crap.
Personally, I think BFG TA's are pug ugly, more befitting a Landy or a pick up.
They do, however, provide fantastic grip on wet grass, which is where my campervan spends a lot of time and why it wears them.
Just my thoughts🙂

You don’t have to take issue with it mate, your allowed to have your own opinion and your opinion is correct, however, I believe the sips on bfg ta’s don’t go all the way down the tread so in theory you have about 4-5mm of tread left when worn with no sips, that’s when the tyre loses its properties and of course no one in their right mind unless money stupid is going to throw the tyres away when there’s plenty of tread left…

On the other side of things people will believe the all terrain tyres are great when they have been for a long time then all of a sudden they don’t perform as good as they once were and someone unfortunately finds that out when they need them the most….

Fortunately my tyres do wear out through use so I get my full monies worth but I will have your dilemma eventually as when my present tyres are shot I do intend to get some BFG’s but hopefully won’t be spending much time on wet grass…😎

I still think they look cool on a pvc….😆

Especially with the big white writing on the side😫
Luckily I managed to stop the tyre fitter after the first one and made him swear on his first born's life, that he would put all the writing on the inside, where it belongs.
😆
