Just had a call from my friendly Motorhome dealer to tell me that as a result of the Budget on Tuesday the new rules on vehicle excise duty have been scrapped and everything has gone back to 2019 levels with effect from 12th March.
That means the VED on my new van has dropped from £2135 to £265. The yearly cost is also reverting to the old levels.

Bad news if you collected your new van on the 10th or 11th its not being applied retrospectively.

Good news for the Motorhome industry. The few days of higher payment for those who purchased a Motorhome during that period will probably be brought back in line with others who purchased at that time otherwise the government will find themselves in court and those people will win.

You know it makes sense. The relatively tiny number of Motorhomes are going to make Sod all difference to the Planets Emissions issues. But had the potential to put thousands of Jobs at risk!.

They will make exactly the same difference whether the VED had increased or not....
The only true difference is you won't pay as much for the priveledge.

The SMALL numbers involved. Are not going to make the same difference as a large(r) number of Gas Guzzlers?. and Chelsea Tractors.

I also have to say thanks to Boris, just saved me nearly £2000, pick up my new van next month

Somehow I don't think this thread is going to age very well.

if you were one of the unlucky ones who paid the 2k VED. you should SORN it today, and then re tax it. Might work.

Spend some time in Asia and then tell us whether you think our emmisions will make a difference?

I know what you are saying Jon but the point is that the emissions are exactly the same wether you pay £165 or £2000+ the only thing that the new VED was potentially doing was actually stopping people from buying new "alleged" cleaner vehicles.
