I find it strange that here in Poland, being strongly Roman Catholic, Good Friday is not observed as a Public Holiday.

What is the situation in other Christian countries where you are?

Our dear friends who live in an apartment opposite the church in Almoradi Spain go off on holiday every Easter because of the Religious commotion during Festivities Very devout but getting less so.

Is Poland a Christian country?

Easter Monday isn't in Spain.
According to Google, it is in some regions, including Barcelona. Apparently some regions have maunday Monday as a holiday instead.

Scotlands bank holidays are always odd. My daughter’s school in Peterhead gets Good Friday but she is teaching Easter Monday, OH who works for EDF gets both as do I.

Good Friday is not a Public Holiday in Slovenia either. Apparently God is sleeping so there are no bells and no church Mass. You can, however, prepare to feast on dried turnip peels! Think I'll skip that and wait for the potica to appear.

It is a public holiday here. The whole week here has parades every day ,starting as from Friday 11th.. The high street, where they take place, has been shut since the 4th april ,last week for removal of all street furniture & erection of 12k banked seats, & 600 tonnes of sand for the horses to walk on.
When it finishes around 1 am tomorrow the council will dismantle , remove, clean so that the street is open for normal business by 8am tomorrow. Next week they will replace all the street furniture

I've just found unlike England, even big shops shut here. We've driven to Blanes and found the big pet shop shut. I've not seen so much traffic on the roads since we arrived, the campsiteis full and many are Spanish.

Ireland - ‘strongly’ RC doesn’t have a Good Friday public holiday either. Pubs used to close (yeah right!). We have some other Easter traditions (of course) but our Monday Bank Holiday is taken from UK tradition.

Our GP is open as usual today (Good Friday) and Monday. (Scotland)

I'm pretty sure when I was a kid some places had Monday and Tuesday as bank holidays and worked Friday it certainly makes sense if you work Saturdays usually. Lets face it as Easter is set every year by the phases of the moon it's not a fixed day and is just a stolen pagan festival!
