I am a newbie
Can anyone suggest a good front and rear dash camera that you don't have to pay a monthly subscription fee.
Thanks

After having a Nextbase 322GW Dashcam for some time, I decided to upgrade to a 622GW.

I have mixed feelings about that decision.

The adverts say it has Image Stabilisation and 4K. It should say Image stabilisation OR 4K. You cannot select both at the same time. The touch screen is very insensitive - I have seen better on a cheap £10 child's toy. The W3W and Emergency Call features are only available with the subscription, and connection to my phone wi-fi is flakey.

When you open the App for anything, the bottom 75% is always devoted to trying to get more money out of you.

The image quality however is reasonable.

Another shout re: Next Nextbase I have the 522gw in the van
And the 422gw in the car
Both give good clear vids when transferring to PC or tablet .

Is that for the MH, and does it come as a kit, front and rear camera, with cables included? If so, what model please?
It's in my car. No use for a MH, as the rear camera fits on the rear window. Nextbase 622GW. Buy direct from Nextbase to get good deals on Camera, rear camera and SD Card

We're big fans of NextBase dash cams! Over the past 8 years, we've six vehicles—ranging from a Range Rover to a Nissan Ariya—with their kits. We started with the 522 model and have since upgraded to the 622.

What we love:
  • Excellent image quality.
  • Reliable parking mode.
  • Solid night-time recording.
However, a word of caution: don’t try fitting one in a motorhome or PVC with a long cable run. Why? The cable to the rear camera is 6.5m, and let’s face it—cables never take the scenic, straight route from front to back! I even spoke with NextBase's tech team, and they confirmed there's signal loss over longer cables. Plus, they don’t provide cable specs for DIY enthusiasts.

The good news? Other dash cam brands support longer cable runs.

P.S. I've ordered a Mio Mini rear camera—fingers crossed it does the trick! 😉

I have owned two Nextbase units; the current one is very ancient now, (I think it's a 402G) but neither of them had any sort of decent battery life, so that in order to set them up, and generally tweak things, I have to sit in the vehicle with the ignition on, or find a suitable battery to connect it to. The damn thing often refuses to turn off, and sits bleeping at me, even when disconnected.

I am actively looking for something else.
