Hi all
Going to northern irland next year end of Julie for 3 weeks and have tesco club points and a pooch
Whats the best ferry crossing from your experience ie cheapest or shortest
Thanks

Cairnryan to Belfast or Larne is the quickest and shortest crossing (2 hours) with p&o, and maybe the cheapest ?
They don't take Tesco vouchers though

Done both Cairnryan/Larne, P&O Cairnryan/Belfast, Stena line used Tesco vouchers on both ferry companies
Both about two hour crossing, pets go free.
We go with whoever is cheapest

Much depends on where you live. For us in the NE Cairnryan/Belfast is a no-brainer, fast quietish roads and Stena take Tesco vouchers, although there is a limit on how many you can use. Still worthwhile though. Two and a bit hour crossing, we leave our Westie in the van, he's quite happy, but I think dogs may be allowed in certain places on deck.
At the moment would always recommend going via N.I. if travelling with a dog, no problems with AHCs or Pet Passports (we got Jamie an Irish passport when we were there last year).

Liverpool still operating, 8 hr sailing
When we do this route we usually go overnight and book a cabin. It’s a long time for a dog though - tak8ng into account how early you need to arrive etc.

cairnryan to belfast best with stena, to Larne its p & o with much smaller boats that cancel in bad weather & this year totally unreliable with their much publicised problems. book through caravan club for 10% off & free flexible sailing if needed.
As previous reply....no checks whatsoever on dogs or fridge contents etc, I think from 2023 no dogs allowed on deck but must be left in vehicle or on board kennel....only just over 2 hour crossing, we use it at least 3 times a ýear.

The problem with booking with CMC is that if you need to make an alteration to a flexible booking it needs to go through CMC, unavailable out of office hours. Therefore I book direct with Stena but get a fair bit of cashback from Top cashback.

Stenaline Cairnryan to Belfast and if you're in the C&MC go online, members offers and get a discount. Short crossing too.

We used P&O to go from Cairnryan to Larne and return in July/August, it was the cheapest and we were able to use more Tesco vouchers with them than other carriers, from memory I think it was a max of £105 each way (£35 Tesco vouchers x 3 = £105 in P&O vouchers), Stenna I think was max of £75 each way (ie £25 x 3) and was quite a bit more expensive. I haven't got the info with me at the moment so can't give more precise info.
