we have been abroad for approaching 3 months and on our travels we make an effort to ask every long term traveling Brits whether they are concerned about the Schengen rule. Not one Brit has said to us that they are only here for 90 days. Nobody seems to care or has been doing this so long and it have never been an issue. Therefore we are following the herd
It is not an issue now, and has not been an issue before. If (as seems likely) the UK leaves the EU it will become an issue. Enjoy your freedom whilst you have it. ?
Having been concerned about the 90 day limit I checked it with my step daughters husband who used to work for the customs, he checked and came up with the gov/uk documents which state that the 90 day limit is at this time only a proposal for when we leave the EU and is not in force yet. It states that we will be limited to 90 days in any 180 day period, but until we leave the EU and the agreed period thereafter nothing has changed, we can stay for 6 months or longer if we wish!!
