Just seeking some advice. I have a Fiat Ducato 2.3 2008 and over the last week or so the Glow Plug symbol on the dash is flashing. This appears to be an intermittent issue as sometimes when starting up all is OK and then then the next day the symbol starts to flash again.
I have booked the vehicle in next week for a diagnostics check but with the glow plug symbol being intermittent it might not be picked up.
Any ideas as to a way forward or what next to check next would be much appreciated.
Thanks

On some models it is a warning of water in the fuel filter, how long since it was changed. Look to see if there are any wires attached to the fuel filter.

I would definitely recommend the diagnostics check. We had the same intermittent warning light coming on, on our vw crafter conversion. It turned out to be a “faulty throttle actuator control system valve”! Which in my very non-mechanically minded mind, has nothing to do with glow plugs 🤔

Hi, I have a ducato 2.3 2008 and before Christmas I had same thing happen. When on first ignition the glow light went off after 3 seconds, but if I turned off and put ignition on again it flashes for 30 seconds but starts fine. I took to my mechanic and he checked it but said not to worry too much. I changed fuel filter few weeks ago because it was leeking but the light still flashes for 30 seconds, only on ignition not whilst driving. Seems to be OK and running really well. At Christmas I went to Lake district for a week and it was cold but it started OK.

The 'glow plug' flashing light only indicates 'glow plugs' when starting . When running it can indicate all sorts of other faults . Mine had it & it was an "excessive rocker cover temperature" sensor? Didn't even know A) there was one &B) what it would even be for? it was faulty anyway

I have posted this before but it seems to have missed some people's notice.

There is nothing to worry about, the yellow Glow Plug symbol is designed to flash for up to 20seconds after starting especially in cold conditions.
(It is in the vehicles manual 😄)

The time for concern is IF it is accompanied with other symbols, stay on longer than 30 seconds or starts flashing after engine has been running for some time.
