Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
Still doing little shake downs of this old motorhome & loving it, so as I add things I like to test them in the field.
I know we're very lucky & spoilt for choice of places to go, last night I travelled less than 10 miles from my front door to this beauty spot, weather perfect, midges practically non existent.

Peggy, yes that's her name, looks so good in these photo's...….I wish we were wearing so well.:(
Yes we are so lucky living where we do.

Erm do you think you could send some sunshine to us instead of hogging it to yourselves. Its not that nice up here and rather windy too, mind you its dry and bright clouds at the moment.

Your at the wrong end of the country Sandra, tis only natural for anyone to hog the good weather but, I'll try a wee sun dance this afternoon to see if that'll help you. :sun:

Why travel further for a shakedown, when you have such beautiful wild camps virtually on your doorstep (y)

There'll now be a queque down the road since you've let on where all the good spots are, and the weather!

Not been to D & Galloway for a long while, probably 16 years or more. Used to fish on Loch Ken at Parton and had a friend at Minnigaff near Newton Stewart who I used to visit. Now living in Wales, when I head up to Scotland I drive straight past the A75 as I have to visit family north of Glasgow then the draw of the Highlands is just too strong!
Roll on retirement so that we don't have the restrictions that work puts on us and I can introduce my wife to this lovely part of Scotland :)

Last nights wild camping spot hasn't been given away & I know thousands of wild camping spots in this neck of the woods, if I didn't want to share a camping spot I'd be extremely difficult to find.

I admit that I do like to draw some more tourists to our neck of the woods, as long as they spend in the local economy it can't be a bad thing in my view.

There is so much space that its a motorhome paradise, surely we shouldn't keep that all to ourselves?

Is Peggy’s interior still as pink as it was?

Sadly it is Janine, I want to finish the wee jobs which need to be done & I'd hate to do that on new carpets but, oh I do hate the sight of that pink carpet lol.

Robert.

Under the trees, sunny and no midges - how lucky are you !
Yes but no one mentioned the tree sap, thats now probably covering the roof and skylights:eek:
I always forget about these things when choosing a nice spot under trees, if it aint tree sap its bloody bird shite.
Must mention, our house windows & sills, the car & the van are now green with the blown pollen off the indigenous Fir Trees, happens every year down here in leafy Surrey, and its a pain in the proverbial to get it all washed off:mad:
Wheres me chain saw?
Glad you are enjoying the van Robert,it looks great, thats what its all about, getting out there in lovely remote spots like that...marvellous!(y)

You are very lucky to live in such a wonderful part of the world, we spent 16 glorious nights in D&G last year and didn't want to leave. Will definitely be back very soon.

Bet a satellite dish would not work there. You see, there is always a downer.

Hurry back mate.

Ah but, the upside is that with scenery like this telly becomes superfluous & it doesn't even get properly dark at this time of year!
I do confess to having watched a few movies before turning in & apart from that the silence was deafening. :D

Yes but you got woken up when a nearby squirrel turned over and farted.

I love being out in the wilds and get woken by the dawn chorus. Remarkable how loud it sounds after a few hours of near silence

Hurry back mate.

It won't be long Robert until MoHo's become a bl○○dy nuisance to the area if the popularity keeps increasing as it is.

We've been there for the last few days and in one part of the D&G southern coastline there were motorhomes stuffed in any and every roadside spot available. There were huge tag axle vans taking up entire view points while one Chausson was buried into the access point to a farmer's field - and on a tight dangerous corner too.

It won't be long until the D&G folk start resenting MoHo's at this rate.

A lovely place though - for now.

All the best,

Andrew
