Any magic tips or best products for getting your motorhome tyres back to black?

That is without them looking like you've just driven off a dealers forecourt with that horrible shiny stuff they use. :giggle:

Someone mentioned shoe polish but not sure about that.....

I was a valeter in a former life and I have seen some weird stuff put on tyres…
Shoe polish, black dye, black paint, pledge, all manner of silicon based instant shine stuff….
I was taught to clean the tyres, give the a good scrub when washing the car. Try and avoid caustic TFR(traffic film remover) as it can strip the tyres of their coating.
Once washed and dried use a Rubber food and allow it to soak in and then buff off.
That will give you a clean black tyre with Matt finish- not shiny and nasty like a Arthur Daleys motors look…
The better the quality of the tyre the less product you use- I don’t need any dressing on the Michelin tyres on my Volvo.
I can’t give you a recommendation of a product as I tend to buy trade(5litres) and I haven’t found one that I have been completely happy with……
If I can find the last stuff I bought I will post the details…

I use Espuma RD50. Really good tyre dressing. Apply sparingly with a small brush and wipe excess off with a cloth. Also works well on black wing mirrors and door handles. Expensive but a little goes a long way and the results are excellent and long-lasting.

Why? Would you want shiney tyres
I think campers who like clean tyres have nothing else to worry about. And probably like the inside of there toilet cassette spotless inside before using it again. Lol.

I think that once the new shine has worn off, you're supposed to paint the walls white ...

Used engine oil like the local scratch and go
Please don't use Used Engine Oil. It is carcinogenic due to the polycyclic aromatics in it, basically the same molecules as you find in the tar in cigarettes. This is why you should use gloves, keep it off your hands and dispose via a recycling centre, when changing it. Putting it on your tyres is spreading it around the world so it can fly up in to people's lungs.

Considering the state of the roads in Lincolnshire depending on what is being harvested it’s hard enough to keep the van clean never mind the tyres.

Admission time…..
I have a difficult and stressful job, washing cars is my time to unwind and de-stress.
Am I a little neuro diverse- absolutely…am I slightly obsessive about it… yes, I will take that as well…
My old boss would come in on a Monday and if my car wasn’t clean he would immediately pop his head round the door to check I was ok….😂😂(we have been pals for 28 years).
We have 6 kids between us all of which drive, so I am never short of a motor to clean…
Now the Moho has arrived, I can’t wait to get my hands on it! I have already bought new glass cloths, and some bigger microfibre cloths for it!😂😂😂

I use Meguires Endurance Tyre Gel. Not because I like to see the tyres shiny, but because it feeds the rubber, maintaining its suppleness, and had good UV protection. It extends the tyres life, and helps alleviate the cracking on the tyre wall.

I use it on a classic car too, changed the tyres at 15 years old, and they were little different to the replacements.

ABSOLUTELY! TFR used on my van by a supposed pro valet caused damage which cost me over £1500 to put right. (Yes, I did check their reviews before I booked them, but I should think they must have been all by his friends and family...)

Haha yes! I came home on Friday from a week away in Lincolnshire and the van is pretty much camouflaged to match the local fields, being covered with a liberal coating of Lincolnshire mud/grime. I can honestly say that in ten years it's the filthiest it's ever been. Will be washing it before I head out for my next trip later in the week, and confidently expect it to take a while.

Ah, reviews; Those marketing tools masquerading as something else.

I've listened to quite a few people at seminars, who as general managers of Hotels or ceo in retail for example, describing online review platforms as their best marketing tool.

As humans we want to trust in others but marketing is just professional BS.

I would use personal word of mouth and forums for opinions of businesses before I'd accept good/favourable online reviews.
