I’d like to get a stack of euros - probably ones and twos - to feed to French machines (and street musicians?)
All the currency agencies in UK don’t supply coins.
Any tips? E.g. on the boat?

Just buy stuff in the shops with your notes and save the coins.

I always shop online or by card. (Haven’t handled coins for years. Got caught out when they changed the pound coins!) And it might take all trip to accumulate coins. And I hate shopping!

to feed to French machines
France is going the same way as the UK.. parking, aires, etc are generally contactless .. don't think I saw a coin operated machine on my last trip.. even the boulangers were using contactless

we have shed load of Euro coins collected over years of traveling ..

Last time I was in France they had centimes …

Just go in Tesco get a twenty euro note and when you get there just buy something in a shop. Again and again till you have a pocket full of coins.
This cashless b...... Is just out of my understanding.

No Tesco in France any more chaser! But agree can just go to any supermarket and buy something with a note and get coins in your change.

Could perhaps go to a bank and change a note for coins?

Tesco here at the cash exchange in store.
Don't have a cash exchange in our store. Obviously misunderstood what you meant as thought you meant once OP got to France having bought his Euros here or got some out of an ATM once there.

We have a proper banking booth in uttoxeter Tesco , the man in it used to work at the Lloyds branch in town.
I get all my travel money from there, good rate and you even get points on it (y) ;)

No idea about france but in spain any bank would usually change notes for coins.

Tourist information office will normally give coins for notes but France is almost cashless now.
I came with a tub full of euro coins, couldn't get rid of any in France, only managed to add to it. Arrived in Spain and managed to move most of them on now.

Have only managed the use a 2 euro coin for water and a 50 euro note for a tattoo in 12 days so far.

I would buy shopping in a big supermarket and ask for the change in coinage giving the lady my sweetest smile.

I also wouldn't give any to a street musician

We find that notes and coins in France are mostly irrelevant, especially as the "Revolution" launderettes that have sprung up everywhere take contactless card payment, (and previously washers and dryers used to be the one thing that we found coinage was useful for).

However, if you want to change a €10 or €20 Euro note into a pocket full of €1 Euro coins then almost every other independent launderette will have a machine to convert notes into coins.

What (and where) is the tattoo?! Spur of the moment?
58 years of consideration.

Never had one, never wanted one apart from this one.

She went to toilet. I saw a tattoo parlour. She wondered where I was and I told her I just done a deal at 50 euros. Returned half hour later and now I m stuck with this which should help her with identification

But does it supply euro coins?
The best course of action is to get the euro notes from wherever then stop at a cafe and have coffee and a croissant. Just ask for coins in your change.

The notes you get dont get 50's else you will be treated like you have the plague, just get 20's.

Does that disqualify you from Olympic swimming? 🤔
It gives me an advantage in swimming in a clockwise direction

I think I am ok for Olympics as I identify as a male and not a duck. 😏

You could borrow my wife's purse. She insists on keeeping it so full of coins that we have to take turns carrying it when out on walks.

Can be hard to get hold of.

We used our only 5 for 10 hours of electric in Germany.

Asked it two supermarkets of the would change €5 euro notes for 5 x € 1 coins. Both refused.

We will stash them for the future

Never mind €50 Euro notes. Try spending a €500 Euro note in a café!

Fairly recently discontinued as they were the note of choice for organised crime and money laundering.

Most of the Borne's are still coins or tokens.
Most Boulangerie's won't accept cards for payment below €5
