Germany

We’ve only seen 5 uk vans on Aires in France since early April, seen a few more on the road but not many.
Also not seen any Dutch and the Fiat German motorhome today.
That’s because Holland is empty and they are all near Troyes, and good luck to them - enjoying freedom of movement

We are going in July and August down to the far south west of Germany then to near Heidelberg hopefully.
Just for interest we stayed on an aire at sweatzingen a 10 min walk into a very nice town and the bus stop outside the stadium 200 mtrs from the aire bus no717 goes to heidleburg every 30 mins there is also a lidl and a aldi next to the aire found it on search for sites

After being stationed in Germany for nine years and needing a special travel pass to go to France I still prefer Germany.
They were my camping days with trips to the Hartz Mountains,Mosel, Eiffel Mountains and the Black Forest or across to Holland.

Was there a few weeks ago and it was fairly quiet. We’ll be back there in a couple of months and it’ll probably be flat out.

Heading over to lake Constance on Sunday, then 4 weeks pottering around Black forest, Rhine and Moselle.
We did the Moselle 3 years ago and loved it.
Any recommendations appreciated.
Mike

We are basically going to turn right as you look at the map and going east to the border and then north up to kiel if we don't run out of time we have 5 weeks left

We are aiming for Lake Konstanz too, probably be there in a couple of days time, travelling from Garmische. The gorge here was fab, as was nearby Zugspitz.

The cost of camp sites has rocketed exponentially the further south along the Romantic road we travelled. They seem to be @€35 plus here and that’s plus some services.

If around Bodensee have look at the, Rhinefell, great waterfall. Found at the exit of the lake.

Its not unusual to not come across many British vans in Germany.
Last trip Sept 2019 we saw four uk vans on the sites we were on in three weeks.
Other than the Moselle we seem to head to the less well know places with regard to uk travelers
Its just not as popular a destination for a lot of people as France

I think mine in somewhere in this building. Maybe get there next year

We’ve just been in Eberbach, 20miles east of Heidelberg, for the last week and have also not seen any UK vans on site or many British people out and about. Certainly far fewer than in past years, One British family did approach us in Heidelberg to say hello to the dogs! Have seen a few British plated motorbikes out enjoying the roads. Seems to be quite a lot of Americans travelling around.
Diesel was about €2/ litre in Germany last week and this week in Switzerland it’s averaging 2.25 CHF/litre.

So would I - my favourite breed.

Is it difficult to keep their feathering looking good when on the move in the MH?

Take loads of photos of Lake Constance and post please, we head there in two weeks.

You are clearly a person with very good taste!

We have brushes and scissors with us to keep them looking good and all the wild swimming in the Swiss rivers and lakes softens their fur up beautifully. Much better than the very hard Hampshire water they swim in at home.

From 4 April we were in Luxembourg for a week, then to Belgium and up to The Netherlands and finally saw a UK vehicle on a campsite there for the first time in three weeks.

Tunnel booked for 1st June, couple of days around Delft, then 10 days around northern Germany-ish. No real plans yet, but might travel up to Hamburg or southern Denmark.

We are currently on he north side of Lake Konstance, travelled Bregenz to Friedrichshaften and whilst it’s nice we think we must be missing something..

Switzerland is for the next trip, meanwhile
Black Forest will be our next port of call 👍

We are in Rothenburg Ob der Tauber and thoroughly impressed with it. Saw a Brit van in Wurzburg yesterday, the only one so far.
BTW You rarely see French vans in Germany. There were around 50 vans in Wurzburg and not a single froggy.

Our favourite stop off last year, cracking Italian restaurant there😋😋
All home made and very reasonable.
Are you staying in the car park near the fire station?
