How would a pair of these gel batteries
compare to 2x 110ah lead acid.
My charger and solar can charge either

I've been looking at replacing my two gels with these

Similar to the Sonnenschein I think
Not sure about how they compare, but gels seem to last a lot longer than lead acid, my present ones are 11 years old and still do a job, just get a bit depleted off grid in winter
I'll be interested to hear what others think

Probably about the same usable power.

They will take longer to recharge though but are likely to last much longer.

I had to replace my 110 ah lead acid in 2018 and I think they’re on there way again now.

Buy whichever is cheaper both made in the Sonnenschine factory, only 2ah differance I have 3 x Sonnenschine still performing like new, two are 6 years old & one 5 years old.

I had an exide G80 ( 85ah ) leisure battery that is still going after 9 years , however i was a light user off grid and I replaced it 2 years ago for a 110AH Gel Exide 1300 fitted in the space i had. paid £240 for it at the time

I changed mine 18 months ago. The original Sonnenscheins were ten years old. Good batteries.👍

The beauty of gel is that you can get more power out of them without damage than you can with lead ones. We had 2 Sonnescheine ones from Tayna which are made at the same place that Exide are and of the same quality, just a different brand and slightly different ah rating, our Carthago has Exide branded ones.

I've got an 80Ah Exide Gel that came out of my van when I swapped to Lithium. Sat there for a year and hardly lost voltage. Must get around to selling it.

It may be of interest that the gel battery in its present form (sealed, with pressure release valve) was invented by an engineer at Sonnenschein in 1957. So Sonnenschein are not just another brand name.

Sonnenschein is an Exide company and they make the Exide Gels. Sonnenchine Gels used to be a Hymer factory fit.
