I got Basildogs company to fit 2 x 11kg bottles, external filler point and bbq point… great job, lovely fitter guy done it👍😁
After being away for a long weekend without bikes or carrier realised that when the Watling tow bar mounted motorcycle carrier is mounted I can’t get access to the off taps without taking the bikes and rack upright off! Is there anyway I can remotely turn the gas off while travelling and for ferries? All answers gratefully received 👍😁

Do you need to turn them off when travelling? Is your system fitted with crash sensors?

Turning them off for the ferry or tunnel shouldn't be too difficult as you're likely to be in a queue waiting to board, so you have time?
PS I've always wondered if braking hard and suddenly will activate the crash sensors to save turning the gas flow off, though of course that's not the same as isolating the supply at the bottles themselves

Must admit my gas is on all the time, unless on Chunnel. At Chunnel you have to allow them to check you have turned off gas so remote doesn’t solve that problem. Not done ferry so can’t speak for them.

If you can't access the bottles then you can't safely turn them off. Could you make a sealed access hatch from somewhere else in the van? The bottles must be sealed from the hab area so any hatch would need a bit of care and idiot proofness...

Why not just ask Basildog how you can go about turning the gas on and off with stripping the rear doors/towbar bike rack each time?
Does seem a bit of a bad logical set up to have access through the rear doors for the gas but can see for space it would make a bit of sense just not ideal if you travel for a bit then stop for a brew?

Been through the tunnel both ways this month and on each occasion they physically checked the gas was isolated at the bottles. So you will need access for them.

Mines the same access through rear door that will not open.fully when bike on rack . Poor design but I can get arm in to turn it off ....just

The rear doors are a big size so can see why they don’t clear even those drop down towbar bike racks, must be a large gas locker to get two 11kg bottles in.

2 x11kg bottles in the back of a panel van must take up a lot of space.
Any reason why you would not have had underslung tank? Just curious.

We have two gaslow bottles in our pvc. Underslung on previous coach built. The pvc came designed with gas compartment, option of standard cylinders or refillable. Refillable a no brainier.

Mmmm, I also have the same camper, albeit a Globecar
My tow mounted bike rack also blocked the back doors which you need to open to get at the gas bottles
Solution was to get a Strada bike rack that slides backwards to allow the doors to open (just)
The other issue is escaping in an emergency, would your rear doors be blocked with your present set up ?
