I need a new fill hose for my gasit tank (2.5mtr) and their web page suggest that they send the rubber pipe and end fittings and you the customer fit them yourself…🤔

Is this a new thing and is it easily done, no special tools required…

Is it just like tightening up a plumbing job..?

Perhaps Basildog can shed some light on this….😎

Reading the information on that link, it does say it's very easy to do with simple hand tools and supplied like that to enable you to cut it to the exact length you require.

We could sell the same components as we use them in our workshop, we choose not to for many reasons, Gasit now states they are a trade only supplier and if you read their terms and conditions you will soon see it’s your responsibility to make sure that you are a professional.
Prices are all now excluding vat so you have no consumer rights technically as they are not retail products.

If it’s like the ones that come in the kits it’s a piece of cake.
We still see the fittings with the olives 🫒 incorrectly fitted ⚠️
Here’s our R67 compliant factory made hose that I would happily sell to a diyer .
You may well be competent but we can’t test skill levels before sending out parts , not a diy product in our opinion.

Thanks for that…
I’ve ordered what I needed now so will see when I get it…
I suppose my diy standard will be better then most motorhome dealers…😆😎

I had a Gas-It tank fitted by a professional a few days ago. It looked really easy. Well he made it look really easy. I'm pleased I had it done professionally though. Good luck. Have you got the testing fluid?

What’s up with a match or washing up liquid….😉😎

An update on this…
The hose and fittings arrived yesterday and fitted today, what surprised me was the hose is a lot smaller, around 10-12mm opposed to the rubber hose I took off being 20mm I think.
Anyway the fittings went on a treat and was only a matter of pushing pipe on to the brass spigot followed by the olive and nut and tighten… just like doing a compression plumbing joint.

One point to look out for is that the connecting nuts that go on to the tank and filler inlet are fixed so once I screwed the hose onto the tank I had to reverse twist the hose to screw onto the inlet, in other words the nuts on the end of the new hose don’t spin…

But otherwise an easy job and a lot cheaper than I thought. Just the tank to fill now and then test for leaks but I’m confident…😎

Could you not have connected the union to the tank and/or fill connector, then attached the hose as you described above?

Yes, but the hose turns on the connection as you tighten it down on the olive, whichever way you do it, the hose, because of its material will turn on its self when it’s tightened. Hope that makes sense…😎

Hence why we don’t sell these fittings to diy customers, the small threaded connections on the fittings are prone to coming undone when you tighten the fitting ⚠️
Also extremely slow filling so not great on larger systems .

The fittings actually come apart if you aren’t extremely careful.
We are talking about LPG in its liquid state at high pressure at -42°C here not a bit of a water leak ⚠️
Selling these to the public is beyond ridiculous in our opinion .

Definitely not a product we are happy to sell to diyers and we only sell to companies we know have the necessary expertise to use them .

I did wonder if it affected the filling flow and I thought it would.
Surely Gaslow are selling these products to dealers and other companies such as yourself and they are being fitted to many vans as we speak..?
