Newby here : I realise this may be an impossible question to answer but I'm gonna ask it anway :)

If I'm doing a bit of unplugged motorhoming in the Autumn and I stick my gas fire on for three or four hours in the eve and do a spot of cooking on gas...

How long is my 6kg of propane gonna last? Ballpark?

Assuming I add in hot water, fridge and shower pump.. How long might it last? Two people...? Ballpark?

About a week if you don't go too mad with the fire

3-7 days.
Depends on ambient temperature outside and the degree of insulation on the inside (and all the other factors such as comfort, the fridge, the hot water, etc etc)

Hence the reason why most motorhomes have two gas bottles, so that once the first is empty you have a roughly known period of time to refill/replace it before the 2nd runs out.

Our first 6kg ran out this morning.

Our usage was:

9 days purely using gas and an additional 4 days for cooking (hob/oven) whilst on EHU.
During the 9 days, we heated shower and washing up water, ran the fridge/freezer 24/7, did all our cooking on the hob and/or oven, and all our hot drinks.

As the weather has been kind, we haven't used the heating yet.

Hope that gives you an idea.

I have 2 13kg bottles. One lasts around 12 to 15 days using the fridge, hot water and occasional hob, all depending on the time spent without driving.

OK, your hand books will probably advise the gas consumption in grams per hour for each appliance.

BUT, all dependant on the weather etc. So do the calls, plan fir the worst and be pleasantly surprised it turned out better tha expected.

The killer is the fridge, the tall fridges use 500g a day, the smaller ones only use 250g (of LPG by weight).

As such we can do about a week to two on a single 6kg when also using for hot water, and occasional heat.
In winter, you talking DAYS.

We are now (given we do like to use the MH in winter) upgrading our van to 2x11Kg refillable to allow a up to 2 week off grid time in winter. We are now waiting until our remaining 12Kg runs out over next month (should last 2 trips).
